Re: Speedometer face plates 1940-1946

This odd guage cluster, someone asked whether it maybe a KPH speedometer. I'd never think about this in the...

Re: 1932 B banger with a Model A flywheel ?

The Model C was used in Britain, it looks kinda like a 7/8 scale 35 Ford. .

Re: Speedometer face plates 1940-1946

Tim and Fritz,
I unfortunately have no idea if this cluster came out of a big truck. Which would seem odd as I've only seen 60 mph Speedos (the guage not the little swim pants) associated with...

Re: What the heck is that?

I'm sure they can still change a tyre, even if they don't know what the wheel is off.
The machine they use doesn't know what the wheel came off.

Re: banjo bolts.

That's because modern rear axles need a breather, so do closed drive converted banjos.
Original breathed up the torque tube, negating the need for an additional breather.

Re: Mallory Double Life distributor

You probably need a four cylinder tach, I had to for a Grant Spalding dual coil.
Worked great.

Re: 1950 Ford Tudor 226 6 cyl Heater System

In my experience, the water pump hose goes to the upper firewall (heater) inlet and the cylinder head hose goes to the lower firewall it fitting. I've found this to be true on very wide selection of...

Re: 1951 Mercury Overdrive

This points to it being electrical, which is easier than pulling the trans n stuff.
You need to be all over it with an electric tester to find out why after the short period of time the relay...

Re: Can a 8BA be put in a 41?

Can you explain the exhaust system problem? Surely just use the cars original exhaust manifolds, and all is well.
Many thanks

Re: Windage tray yes or no

Windage tray, crank scraper and a kick out, also pan volume increase also helps to lower windage. The longer the stroke the more this stuff helps.

Re: 1951 Mercury Overdrive

Easter test.
Sorry been on the cyder. Turn ignition on and pull the fuse. You may hear the solenoid click out. If it does, looks like we're getting it. Could be as simple as a stuck or shorted...

Re: 1951 Mercury Overdrive

When you turn the ignition on do you hear a click from the trans? Cus it sounds like the solenoid is (in overdrive engaged state) from your description. You could whip the fuse out of the overdrive...

Re: Piston to head clearancing

Nah, if it's a coper gasket, installing it and toqueing it down for measurement purpose, won't make it a used gasket. Just refit to the same side, it'll be as good as new.
You can also grease the...

Yup, your measurements are what I normally find on uncut heads and OE Ford pistons.
