A and AA flywheel castings

I have several flywheel cover castings for Model As and they have the side mount provisions for the frame mounts. I also have what I think is an AA flywheel cover and bell housing, with a socket on...

Re: Uni-steer decision

I have completed installation and testing of a Unisteer setup in my 1934 Ford pickup now that the machine shop has completed my SBC engine. It is 100% to my satisfaction! The substantial investment...

no spark in my Model B fixed

I tried all the usual suspects for a no spark problem at the end of the winter. Nothing worked. Then I removed the points and used a metal file to make them shiny; an emery board didn't do the job...

Re: Timing gears use.

Thanks. Based on your photograph I can see that a vertical manifold face would interfere with the spark plug indentation. Kind of what I was expecting based upon inspection of my own head. BTW, if...

Re: Timing gears use.

What is the reason for a non-vertical flange? and why do you suppose Dan used horizontal? I hear that Steve Serr's upcoming 4-port has something like a 60 degree angled flange.

thanks for your...

Re: Use of avgas?

Fundamentally important to its touted storage value is absence of alcohol.

Re: Timing gears use.

John Neilson, can you discuss your work on 4-port Cragars. I have a Dan Price version and would be most interested in what you are doing with the intake ports.,

Re: My first iron OHV casting!

Tod, Gordon Eliot White's Leo Goossen Archives has copies of blue prints for both of the push rod heads, each penned by Goossen when at Miller and then at Schofield. I have those in my files. The...

Tod, how do you establish the internal shapes of the water passages?

Re: Uni-Steer advice sought

I understand about heating and bending forged steel steering arms. Not to belabor the obvious, hopefully, with Vega or Uni-Steer cross steering setups on my 34 there has to be clearance between the...

Re: Uni-Steer advice sought

I have the brakes on the new spindles now. I had to lengthen an existing tie rod; I put the original in storage. I found the Uni-steer drag link will hit the underside of the stock wishbone when the...

Re: Dohc miller/schofield/cragar head info

I found two Cragar references in the indexes for 2013 and 2014. I have ordered the back issues that are available from FAST because of those I received so far I have learned something in each issue....

Re: Dohc miller/schofield/cragar head info

I received the back issues of FAST Magazine which have Kem Robertson's 20-part story on the Winfields. But I have to get further back in time to find anything on Cragar, apparently. So I have...

Re: Uni-Steer advice sought

That happens tomorrow. :-) I received a bunch or packages this afternoon to help the cause. My last effort today was to try to grease the spindles and I came to suspect I have to drill the grease...

Re: Dohc miller/schofield/cragar head info

I located another source of information about Miller and Goossen and their development of heads for the Model A/B engine. It is the Mark Dees book about Miller. There are new-to-me photographs and...

Re: Uni-Steer advice sought

I have started assembly of the new hubs on my 34. My hydraulic backing plates, year unknown, fit on the spindles perfectly. The bolt-on steering arms with 1 3/4" drop allow the tie rod to pass...

Re: Uni-steer decision

Pete, I hope my results correspond to the positive comments of others. Of course, rack and pinion steering is ideal for IFS and I have used it on race cars with IFS. The geometric logic is as...

Re: Uni-Steer advice sought

Thanks for your responses. One thing has occurred to me and that is that the Panhard bar length ought to be about the same as the drag link length and that might be tough with the Jeep tie rod end.

Re: Uni-steer decision

Pete, I pointed out that my 32 works pretty well in stock side steer configuration. My 34, now disassembled in front and with the F1 box removed, is not now worth photographing, but I'll squirt...

Uni-Steer advice sought

I am converting a 34 Ford pickup to cross steer. There are two ways to route the drag link as I under stand things, to the P=side steering arm's second hole or to a Jeep style tie rod end's...
