The Pertronix epoxy-filled coil arrived yesterday and is now installed, and the car runs great.

The coil I swapped out was a Ford-script reproduction - looked almost exactly like an original SP...

Thanks for all the comments. I’m going to try the 6V Pertronic epoxy-filled coil, but will carry the original 90-year old coil as a back up.....or should I do it the other way around??

None of the parts suppliers selling replacement 6 volt coils provide any detail or specify whether oil of epoxy filled.

What is considered to be the best replacement 6 v coil available ?

I found a Model T .005” stainless steel shim that seems to do the trick in combination with the 0.010” shim already installed. Never thought of looking at Model T shims, but they fit a Model A axle...
