Older VW beetles have the same set up routing the harness up the A pillar and down the C pillar.
With those cars I disconnect the interior light and do as I had mentioned pulling the harness out...

I have a short in the lighting circuit of my 51 Ford 4 door. If I disconnect the parklight and taillight wire from the headlight switch the problem goes away.

With that said my plan is to replace...

I believe what you have there is a modified Borg Warner R10 overdrive.
It’s the same overdrive that is found in 1949-1951 Fords and several other cars of the era.

I contacted the manufacturer ( FSI ) and they sent me a set of “heavy” springs .
They did the trick for me.
Give them a call, apparently it is a common request.

Ok , figured my problem out this morning.
First let me say my engine is miles from stock with a high compression aluminum head, dual Stromberg 97's and a Stipe B cam.
My engine simply didn't like...

Interesting, I am having the same issues with the same distributor .
Any chance of finding out what your guy did ?
The advance springs seem way too light on mine.

I also use a mixture of GL 1 80-90 and Lucas oil stabilizer.
GL 1 does not have the additives found in modern gear lubes that can attack the brass synchros in the overdrive tranny

Yes he counted properly , he had one of the axle tubes off and he chalked each component before counting. In fact he counted several times in disbelief !

Pinion Bearing Crush Collar

I have a loud rear end in a 1955 Sunliner , sounds like pinion bearings to me. Seems that the necessary bearings are availible but I can't locate a crush collar . Anybody know where I might find one ?

What you are trying to clean is vacuum metalized plastic , which is the process for putting chrome on plastic.
If you use any solvents you will strip the chrome off, if you rub to hard you will...
