Agreed the mounting is upside-down. For reference RHD English built 35/36s handbrake is also mounted on the right hand side.

When the supports are removed the treaded holes are obscured by the rear curtain. The part they screw into is a substantial casting screwed to the rear body rail.

Encountered the same problem when assembling my 35. It’s surprising just how much the support rods pull the rad back to the correct position. Had me double checking the fan also.
