Re: aviation gas

If I ever knew just what JP4 was, I guess I've forgotten. Besides running it in the helicopters, we used it to heat c-rations and in our homemade bunker stove. Always did think it burned pretty good.

Re: starter button

Make sure it's grounded real clean to the dashboard metal. Some of the hard to push problem could be to make that ground.

Re: To those who've been there, original harness, am I fighting a loosing battle?

I like to buy the stuff from Brillman and make those big fat 00 cables, too.

And plug wires: Packard 440 and nice terminals.

Re: To those who've been there, original harness, am I fighting a loosing battle?

Not everybody buys a new harness. The old junkers I end up with, I pull all the old wire then go back one wire at a time. One thing at a time till she's ready to hit the road. I do maybe waste a lot...

Re: King Pins Anyone in MN that can do them

13/16ths maybe. I wanted to buy a reamer, but couldn't find one that would guide off of the other side of the spindle for a price I wanted to pay. Did the probably smart thing and took it to the...

Re: Positive Ground wiring situation

The way you first phrased that question makes it sound like you have it correct? You hooked his positive cable to the pos of battery, etc. Or what?

Re: 46 Pickup Kingpin Shims Where?

Thanks a lot, everyone. It's sure fun having all these new, shiny little parts to mess with. Spring eye bushings, shackle bolts, shackles, kingpins, etc.

Re: 46 Pickup Kingpin Shims Where?

That sounds good to me. This front end has been through once already. I figured out today I think the torn shims I took out had been up top between the spindle and axle. Thanks J.

Re: Low comp on one. Yl

I had a just barely bent new valve one time, that'll sure do it.

46 Pickup Kingpin Shims Where?

I searched around some, never found the definitive answer. Where along that pin is best or proper? Looks like they'd be least vulnerable clear down at the bottom under the rotating bearing. Or I...

Re: Drag link 1945 1/2 ton pickup

My 46 has a home-made one, two chunks of rod welded together with a tie rod end on both ends. This problem must be why.

46 Half Ton Caster Wedges?

I've pulled the completely worn out frontend from beneath my jailbar project. Man, everything is worn- somebody didn't care much about grease. After I removed the leaf spring U-bolts to get the axle...

Re: Test Picture

I think the trick is your camera has to be at least 15 years old, computer 10 years old, and yer phone is just in your pocket for calls.

Re: A few questions on a 8BA

I took apart a 53 that had sat for years and years. Oil sludge inside, but nothing else had gotten in there. I never figured out why it was abandoned. I could have made it run, but.....when I got the...
