Chances are that if not sealing, the surfaces on the two manifolds are not even or the surface on the block is pitted. If the two surfaces on the manifolds are not even, good chance of cracking one...

Couldn't you just make the points plate center hole a bit smaller and machine the shoulder it sits and rotates on. I have wondered in the past why no one was making the hole a bit smaller anyway....
