Re: Teach Me Voltage Regulators
I took my regulator and generator to the local auto battery and electric shop to have them checked out and the regulator adjusted. I did this twice on two set-ups with good results.

Re: 1941 1.5 ton Ford Truck
1940 through 1947. There may be a few minor differences inside, one of which I know of is that on the 1940 door, the rectangular access cover is held by 5 screws and on the others it is held by 8...

Re: Another Overheating Question
I do not like flex hoses. I have no scientific proof but it seems to me that the ridges would hamper efficient flow of the coolant. I do remember from some fluid mechanics studies at one time, that...

Re: 1940 ford chrome lever and switch plate
A trick I use is to wrap a thin piece of electrical (or any kind) of tape around the perimeter of the switch before removing the two screws which hold it on. This enables you to get the unit to your...

Re: Engine dies while driving
I vote with the sediment-in-fuel folks. My 37 engine did this when the screen in the fuel pump's sediment bowl would clog up. The sediment appeared to be small pieces of tank liner material which...

Re: Mounting dome distributor
Make two temporary studs and put them in finger tight. This will allow you to slip the gasket on and then the distributor. Turn the rotor with your finger as you line up the slot and slide the...

Re: Hair splitting for AnthonyG?
I was told by a mechanical engineer friend of mine that an engine takes a fuel and produces mechanical power from it while a motor takes one form of power (electrical) and changes it into another...

Re: Water pump change out
For the inside hidden bolt, I use a 14 mm metric 6-point socket. It fits a little bit more snugly and lessens the chance of rounding off the corners.

Re: Hubcap ID help please :)
Center row right looks like what was on our 1950 Ford sedan. Bottom row left was what was on our 1965 Mercury Comet.

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck
I bought the side channels for my 34 BB from Steele Rubber Products. They fit and work well. They are probably the same as for your 32. I do not know for sure.

Re: A Real Rookie question
I like the hand throttle for starting out on a hill. My right foot can stay on the brake while the hand throttle can keep the RPMs up until I can get my foot over on the floor throttle pedal.

One thing to consider is that if there is oil in the hub and you set it down on your workbench, one way or the other, the oil will leak out. I do not remember which way, but I think it is if you set...

I would not take the radiator and fan out to replace the pumps. It would be a little easier but I do not think it would be easier enough to offset the trouble of putting the radiator, fan and shroud...

Re: no advice needed, but I am curious
I made two cranks out of electrical ground rods. Two 90 degree bends and a drilled hole in the end for a cross pin and you are done. They are just long enough to clear the bumper.
