Dawsonville Moonshine Festival

Any of the Ford Barn folks goin to the Moonshine Festival this year? Iíll be the with two 40 Fords. Itís the 80th anniversary for the 40 !

That cooling system is an open system therefore it can not build any pressure not even with a pressure cap. The overflow tube comes Right out of the top tank .Skip the water pump guy has an in-line 4...

Paint the buckets white. A 32 Ford headlight bulb will plug right into the socket. Gives you. Bright lights. The down side is that you’ll need to put a relay in the circuit to keep from burning out...

My 40 done about the same thing about 25 years ago. Turned out to be the pilot bearing on the rear of the pinion gear had come apart and the rollers were getting caught up in the ring and pinion gear.

Selma, Then you know where Prattville is , that’s where I’m at. Just two bolts where it rests in the center X member. Then you can pull down on the rear of the wish bone .

If it’s a 39 engine it doesn’t have a seal at the rear main, it has a slinger. If your leaking oil in the rear it’s probably pushing past the rear main bearing.

Find some really good or NOS headlight reflectors and have them nickel plated them send them to Uvira reflective coatings and use stock 6 volt bulbs. Your headlights will be bright if your wiring...

Probably for battery hold down or ground strap for the 6 cylinder models. The battery changed sides on the 6 cylinder cars and pickups were probably the same.

Re: A couple of 59a Engine Queries rebuild.

The fuel pump push rod bushing should have been removed before the block was cleaned. No big deal to replace it but if it’s not worn through it’s ok. There’s no pressure between the rod and bushing.

A pressure cap on a 40 radiator still will not build any pressure. The overflow tube goes straight to the atmosphere.
