Re: 39 Front Shocks

I'm talking about the original type shocks, but they are not mechanical. They are lever action hydraulics. You can pick up used shocks for cores fairly inexpensively, or Any has cores to rebuild, I...

Re: 39 Front Shocks

I sent them to Andy Falandes <andys.shoxs@gmail.com>

Andy is highly regarded as the best on rebuilding the old Ford shocks. I've never seen a complaint with his work.

Re: 39 Front Shocks

I had a tube shock kit on my '38. Like you, I found the shocks lacking. I bought some KYB shocks for the front. Before long, the bracket that bolts to the frame for the upper shock mount broke. A...

Re: 1935-37 LED Headlights

I have a '38 Deluxe that came to me with a B Drake halogen 12v kit installed. The are not overly bright, but they do aim adequately on high and low beam. I've read of others who have another brand...

Re: 1939 ford deluxe trunk handle

I've gone in the back and replaced the lock and lock cover spring. Removing the stainless skin and getting it back on straight would be more difficult. Maybe someone can help you with that.

Re: 1939 ford deluxe trunk handle

Can you tell us more about what you are needing to do? Pictures would help.

Re: For Sisson in WA

I went to the page and post number given by Newc and didn't see the woodie. Maybe he can post a link to it.

Re: '40 Body Underside Color?

Probably irrelevant to the '40 discussion, but judging from the condition of the body mounting pads and fasteners, my '38 deluxe appears to have never had the body off the frame and the underside is...

Re: Pinion Angle

I believe he's saying the pinion is 4/10ths (.4) degree positive now. If the pinion has too much angle with his shim, I think he needs a shim with less angle.

Re: Mounting ‘Tubman’ condenser on dome distributor

Voltage at the coil decreases when the points are closed. Bump the engine over and you should be able to tell when the points are open and closed by the volt meter. 2.3 V isn't enough to start the...

Re: FOG LIGHTS AND tURN SIGNALS on '39 Ford

I used fog lights from the pre-sealed beam era on my '38. I replaced the sockets to use 1157 bulbs and have parking and turn signals wired to them.

Re: 59A exhaust runner rust through?

GB, I'm always impressed by the common-sense solutions you come up with. I'm going to give it a try. I think I have a broken manifold to use.

59A exhaust runner rust through?

I came by a 59A engine and in tearing it down I found rust scales blocking one of the rear exhaust ports when I removed the exhaust manifold. Not knowing the history of the engine, I'm wondering...

Re: Driver Door Sticking

When I got my '55 Victoria it had a black, soft pad under the striker plates. They were gooey enough to allow the striker to move. I found some metallic looking pads with a rough finish on ebay. They...

Re: BW R10 governor

With the governor terminal grounded at the relay and the ignition switch on, have you checked for voltage at the solenoid terminal, both sides of the kick down switch, and at the solenoid?

Re: BW R10 governor

As Ken says, the kickdown switch is in the circuit that takes the ground to the relay. The wiring on the cars are old, and connections and wiring develop resistance. There are four connections on the...
