Re: metal roof
A lot of cars survived because someone put a metal roof on them, if they are outdoor drivers then a metal roof works. I took one off of my 29 that I put back original but the unrestored 30 tudor...

Re: 35 Ford Hubcaps
Wood wedge or one of those plastic (really strong) ones that Stihl sells for driving in a tree. Just something to get it started to where you can grab it.

Re: 1929 front crossmember
I think they made a change in the cross member during 29 in preparation for the 30s and used them on the 29 style with different mounting some how. So if my memory is right, they were interchangeable...

Re: Luray Swap meet
I was there late tuesday and wednesday, I really enjoyed talking to everyone and I brought home a pile of parts for my off road A project including 4 21 inch wheels at $10 each. Looked in a trash can...

Re: Those were the days....
The dollar is worth a tenth of what it was back in the 70s so you would have to put it in today's money I guess. When the Model A was new the money was backed by gold and silver, that is why coins...

Re: lost interest in 2013, working on it again.
I think the 29 is very close to the 30-31 other than the cowl where there is no wood so you wouldn't be far off going by that. Even the trunk lids are the same. I have a 30 coupe with no interior if...

Re: Running engine with no dip stick?
I got a late 28 motor off of craigslist, covered in grease and road dirt, I only bought it because of the price and all the dirt kind of told me that nobody had messed with it in the last 70 years or...

Re: Fuel leaking when shut off valve is closed
I have rebuilt several original valves, they aren't hard to rebuild once you pry off the washer from the shaft that sits on the packing. I used graphite rope to repack them with. The only one that I...

Re: Rain
We must have had the same rain that you were in over here, it rained hard for a long time. I have a vacuum powered fan on my tudor but I don't think it would have done a whole lot in that rain with...

Attached are photos from the 1948 Sears catalog showing the carburetor and the price for the core Zenith that they want in exchange. Not sure what they did with the Zeniths that they got as they...

Re: Separating Control Rod from Control Arm
The springs should keep things tight, a lot of the housings are cracked right behind where the shafts come out are painted and patched. Could there be a hidden crack in the column housing itself?

Re: Brass fuel shut-off valve binding.
I have rebuilt them and the least little rusty gas will kind of start clogging it up. It is just a brass cone that fits perfectly in the brass housing. there is a hole that lines up to allow gas to...

Re: Voltage Regulator??
Three brush delco remy uses a 2 point regulator which functions like a cut out and the 2 brush uses the 3 point regulator. Tractors used the same set up and there are documents and videos on line...

Re: "Doodlebug"
Looks like may be a delco remy generator and regulator on the firewall. Very similar to what was on many tractors so if it works leave it. People with old tractors will be familiar with it, more so...

Re: Starter switch gasket
It doesn't insulate the starter switch housing since it screws into the starter so I think the purpose could be in case something went wrong with the internal moving part, in case it broke, it would...
