Re: Carb leak

I agree 100% with what Ernie wrote (except maybe me dribbling!). I had a carb drip that was driving me nuts. I finally replaced the main S/O valve even tho it didn't seem to be leaking while I was...

Re: Parts Identification & Description

Joe, yes I have that book. It gives the part number, thread and size of each fastener along with the number used, location and finish.

It is jointly published by MARC and MAFCA.

Re: Dead Pertronix Coil

I agree. Carbon tracking causes a lot more problems with ignition systems than people realize. It helps to occasionally wipe off coils, distributor bodies and caps (inside & out) as a preventive...

Re: New Hub Cap Installation

The special tool is for the 10 tab caps and is no longer available. I haven't had a loose cap in 6 years since I used the tool, no rubber bands, no silicon.

Re: Running Board Step Install

I usually step over the running boards when entering and exiting (long legs) so for me they are fruitless. So I really can not help with positioning.

But they were on the car when I bought it....

Re: Clutch Adjustment/Transmission Oil

Robert, I don't believe you would be able to maintain your 1" free play if the clutch arm was cracked. Every time you stepped on the clutch pedal it would open more.

Here's what mine looked like:...

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller?

Well since it says "Mithchell Manufacturing" at the top of the Installation Instructions PDF provided by Bratton's in their online catalog I would have to say they are one and the same...

Re: Can anyone recommend a rear hub puller?

Mitchell Manufacturing makes one that works on both style hubs. As with all of their products it is top notch. ~$100 https://mitchelloverdrives.com/mitchell-hub-puller/

You could bend up a very special 1⅜" wrench to turn your engine forward and backward to find the timing mark. I have given several away to my club members.

Re: Fuel leaking when shut off valve is closed

DannL, try to remember these are unprecedented times. I am sure most of the vendors would love to sell you parts or gaskets, if available. If one vendor doesn't have what you want, try another.

Registration: License + YOM = $150/year

Insurance: $24,600 agreed value + Liability, Medical and Uninsured Motorist = $94/year.

Then the memberships to MARC & MAFCA...

I can agree with that to a point. The spindle will only turn until it hits the King Pin Locking Bolt Nut (Turn Stop). The spindle can not turn any farther than that. It does not matter how far the...

Not sure ho that could happen. On my '30 it hits the stops in both directions, same as before. Maybe the '28-29 are different?

Re: Leg room

Haha, you must have an exceptionally strong shifter or some really weak 5/16" eye bolts. People have claimed to bend them by hand.

Now if you are trying to bend a Mitchell shifter, that is a...
