Put the grease fittings in the freezer overnight. They will be easy to drive in on the car with the vendor tool. Freezing the fitting does wonders for ease of installation.

I had the same problem. Ended up emptying the gas tank, flushing with water, airing it out for a week and then used a dremel to cut off the bezel. Definitely not fun, but I got it out.

Are your brake adjusting shaft pins new? I had a problem with the new pins. The shaft is supposed to be .490 in diameter. Mine were .494. This did not allow the shafts to fully seat in the brake...
