39 coupe interior

Hi Folks

I’m getting ready to replace the front rubber mat. Under old mat the current insulation looks like (best I can describe) horse hair. What’s the best way to remove it? It may be glued...

Re: I Can't Stop My Clutch Chatter On My '53!

I didn’t read the posts, but my chatter stopped after I replaced the (very worn - dry rotted) motor mounts on my
52 F1.

Re: Photo Resizing Utilty on this site?

Don’t think so. I normally resize on my phone and then upload on barn.

Re: 1951 f1 coolant leaking at top pipe

I agree with Denny. Also,

I prefer (not concourse correct) one hose on each pump. Eliminating pipe in center.

Napa has them.

Re: Another gear ratios question

“BTW - i have a 239 flathead. Cruises comfortable at about 60 to 62 - seems to be the sweet spot for it.”

Total agreement, I have same setup on my 52 F1.

Good info. How do the EABs compare to the aluminum heads for compression?

Re: Drop light

I use this every time I work on the car or truck. I found it to be the best. It’s $20, at tractor supply.

Re: Another Huge Loss to me

Tony, my deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad.

I lost my dad December 2, 1977. I still miss him. Your dads memory will never fade.

One way of honoring him and keeping him with me, I hung...

Convert 6 cylinder tach to 8

Hi guys

I just installed a used Westach, on 52 F1 (v8 flatty) It’s reading about 33% higher than what it should. I’m thinking it’s a 6 cylinder tach. After doing a google search a possible remedy...

Re: 52 f1

Hi Guys

I changed rear flex brake line.

What’s interesting is when I disconnected the line. Absolutely no brake fluid dripped out.

Master cylinder was full and when I depresses the brake...

Re: 52 f1

Thanks guys.

I think, it feels like both back brakes locked up. I’m now thinking, the suggestion on the one flex hose that feeds both is probably going bad.

I will still inspect all four...

Re: 52 f1

Paul

Thanks, while the sticking wheel cylinder sounds more likely. Your idea is also possible. I can’t recall if I replaced them when I purchased the truck 3 years ago. I’ll look into both...

Re: 52 f1

TJ that is very possible.

I’ve seen them leak and have replaced. Is there a tell tail sign or a test I can do? I’m assuming not, since it’s intermittent.

Re: 52 f1

Thanks guys.

Brakes have 10k on them. I’ll pull drums see if anything amiss.

Just strange that it happens and then goes away.

Re: 4 post lifts

I replaced the front axle on my F1 using the Atlas 4 post lift. You can do almost anything a 2 post can do. A 4 post is not just a storage lift.
