That is what I used. Did a test to see what torque the main cap nut had when done using a modern beam torque wrench. Found that using the tool as intended, the nut was in the 80 foot pound target...

The gap maybe larger then you think. Add in the .025 at the distributor and makes it about the same as my S10 4 cylinder, around .060.

I was going to say the sealing rings too. What you could try also; wrap the thread with teflon tape and try that. The thread will cut through the tape for grounding. It works for Model T's and they...

Don't know how easy to put nut back on the bolt at this point. The leafs may have shifted so as the leafs are being compressed the bolt may just work up so past the top of the frame with no way to...

Someone had used Model A headlight wiring conduit to cover the wires and taped the connection. Take the tape off and look.
