The Mercury engine I had was marked 99 on the intake deck next to # 1 cylinder. It was also painted dark blue.

It has vacuum ports on the intake between #5&6 and #7&8 intake ports like a 39 merc. What is the serial # on the transmission? That could be a merc motor out of a truck.

The numbers are from the 1955 Motor's manual. Coverage ranges from 1940-1955. The numbers I posted are for the 1940-model 01a- 221 cu. in. v8 motor. Harley

I took a closer look at the heads I have today. They have the big T embossed on them but they are marked 81T-6049 and 81T-6050. The block has 99 stamped close to the front on the intake deck. I know...

Your oil pump is positive displacement. If it is packed full of start up lube that should act as a check valve. I would fill the oil passage, it should drain thru the cam bearings to rod bearings. I...

I have 8ba heads on my 59a. I used 59a gaskets and plugged one water hole on the passenger side head. No problems, Harley.
