My ceramic started rusting after about 6 months so I had to use manifold paint on it. If I have to buy another I'll just buy the non-ceramic one and save the $$.

Look at a power inverter that goes from 6v to 12 V. I don't think a clock would exceed the amp draw this device is rated at.
