I swapped battery to positive ground and found cutout welded together at contacts. Seperated contacts. Now when sometimes it cranks it backfires like crazy above an idle and has a lose of power. I...

I just got this 1929 model A and it came to me hooked up with positive of battery hooked to generator. My generator has a round contact on it? What is that for? Also i dont think generator is...
