Re: Fan removal- stock '40

Radiator is clean, it has a more modern remote mounted coil and runs perfectly cool on the road so it seems to be an airflow issue at idle. If anyone has specific fans that help that would be good,...

Re: 1940 stock flathead idle "dip" when stopping at a traffic light

Thanks for the great tips, to close this thread I simply turned the curb idle screw up about a 1/4 turn. Believe it or not, 1/2 turn was too much and resulted in a high idle. Now that the weather...

Re: Fan removal- stock '40

Thanks for all the great feedback- I did the loose bolt plan and screwdriver wedge and it worked great. Assuming I need to move the fan axially after the shroud is on, are there any suggestions for...

1940 stock flathead idle "dip" when stopping at a traffic light

I have a stock '40 that runs well but tends to have a rather large temporary RPM "dip" when returning to idle to the point it feels like it's going to stall out.

After a second or so it returns to...

Re: Why Ford Changed the Fan Mount in '42

Good point- I didn't see a flange on my stock '40 Deluxe radiator so maybe they mean it fits only a Walker one, will find out. I also have one fan blade that is larger than the others (it is about 8...

Very good tips- I have the same issue, cools on the road and heats up at idle...and then vapor locks. Has gotten progressively worse over the past 5 years I've owned the car. Running 180 stats and...

Re: 1934 Ford (stock) "Ain't Got No Gas"

Problem solved- via Emailing and calls he was able to pressurize the tank (fuel flowed freely to the firewall), and then get it to run off a mason jar gravity feed, so he replaced the fuel pump and...

Re: 1934 Ford (stock) "Ain't Got No Gas"

I also have an extra glass bowl fuel pump that fits my '40, would it fit temporarily on this '34 to try it out, or are we talking about bending copper lines?

Re: '40 w/Fram canister oil filter- under some pressure?

Just saw your post, JSeery- mine only has one hole, and I looked pretty carefully. Will double check- I'm using a Fram F-485 NOS unit that says it's for flathead Fords.

Appreciate the pics. Might be as tough to find at Lowe's as a canvas stretcher so I will look for an original or come up with another method. Thanks.
