Re: Brake Conundrum

Re: Brake Conundrum
I suppose it matters what you want to end up with. If it's just a driver then finishing the hydraulic conversion is ok. Either can be made to function well. Any idea what the juice brakes came off of?

Re: fuel pump question
I live in an agricultural area where non-ethanol fuel is readily available, It's all I use... but it still sounds like a food idea. I think that's what killed this one.

fuel pump question
I was hoping to rebuild this fuel-pump. The valves seem to be pressed in? Is this type still rebuild-able?

Re: Another Video 36 Pickup
Gotta love a cool old truck. Thanks for the video, how about putting that camera in the cab and taking us for a ride!

Re: Fan Belt Tension Adjuster....
I have to agree here. As long as you have a cherry-picker style engine hoist readily available, it's very simple to roll it over to the vehicle, put a strap ( I use an old piece of ratchet-strap)...

Re: 1952 8Ba flathead wot stay running
Probably one power valve and one spark control valve in the rebuild kit, they aren't interchangeable.

Re: Dead
If you can check the battery voltage while you try to crank it, or just turn on the headlights, I bet the battery drops to zero. If the battery voltage stays up, then has to be a bad connection.

That looks great! I've heard of that method of painting before but you really did some nice work.

Re: 1949 F1 ride into town to chase some parts
Here's the story as I was told it:rolleyes:
The fellow I got it from had it in a '35 Tudor, he said it came from a '49 pickup. You can tell it's been cut off because of the "custom" grinding and...

Re: 1949 F1 ride into town to chase some parts
When I brought it home it still had it's original 8RT with 4-speed crash box transmission. The 8RT has some nasty exhaust to cylinder cracks. I put an 8BA together for it and rebuilt a light duty...

Re: Speedometer 1950 F3
The cable just pulled out of my 49. My speedo did the same thing, some screws fell out. Just cleaned things and put it back together.

Re: Mercury Motor I.D.
The Mercury heads could be put on any 8BA style motor. If the crank is 4 inch stroke and the bearing surfaces are repairable, it's worth $400.
