Re: 1931 Canadian Standard Roadster

You can find a list of the Canadian body parts in the CMAFF library. Look at the top parts for an open car in the July 15, 1932 file. The only reference to part numbers with 42175 are curtains (page...

Re: Peep mirrors

You can get stick-on convex mirrors that help a lot. I have some that are the exact diameter of the flat mirrors.

Re: Window glass

The attached chart might help, but bear in mind it was published in 1928 and some dimensions may be different for 1931, depending on your model ( I know for sure Coupes are). Another alternative is...

Re: 1929 TwoLite headlamps w/ LED turn signals

Here's a question for you guys. When was the last time you actually used your parking lights? In all my years driving I can't recall ever using them. I really don't know what use they are...

Re: New fuel shutoff valve, ball valve filter

I had the opposite problem - the filter would not fit all the way into the valve so I had to file it down a little with sandpaper. As someone said make sure you have the correct filter.

Cartouche

I noticed today that Cartouche is advertised on the MAFCA website. I thought Mac's closed them down long ago. What gives?
Just checked again and it didn't show up, but does after refreshing the page...

Re: 46-48 front drum replacement, or??

Maybe I'm missing something here but it appears that the original drums mount on the inside of the hub flange, whereas the Boling bros. drums are designed to mount on the outside of the hubs. So...

Re: Front wheel studs

Here's an update:
I found a better supply of wheel studs at C&G Ford Parts and they were very quick to respond to questions about dimensions. I bought a 51A-1107-D wheel stud that they list for a...

Front wheel studs

I have what appear to be 1940-48 style front brakes with hubs on the outside of the drums, which I believe are original style. I bought these used for my Model A so I don't know the exact year. One...

Re: electronic voltage regulators (EVR)

There is a note on that site's home page that the EVR's are now for sale by "30TUDOR" for $80. I use the same type on my Model A and it works great. Not sure if he has posted here previously.

Re: striping

Order a copy of Herb Martinez's Guide to Pinstriping (amazon). It even has a good example of striping on a roadster.

Re: electronic voltage regulators (EVR)

There is a fellow in Alberta who posts on VFF who is making them apparently. They are for Model
A's but may also work on later generators. Just do a search for EVR on that forum.

Re: 6v to 12v

I bought the 8BA without a generator and looking at some photos I'm pretty sure the mount did not have a locating pin or perhaps had already been removed. It would have had to be for me to align the...

Re: 6v to 12v

If you don't need the extra output of an alternator you can save a lot by buying a reman 1964 Galaxie 390 V8 12 volt generator (starter also) - check rockauto. You will have to swap the front cover...

Re: 2 Bulb Headlight idea (1929 A)

I think you should check with your local Motor Vehicle regulations to see if this arrangement meets their standards. Based on a limited search of SAE standards, there appears to be some requirements...

Re: 2 Bulb Headlight idea (1929 A)

I would think many people would be confused seeing one headlight flashing, not realizing it's a turn signal. Also can you see it when your very bright led headlights are on? I converted my parking...

Re: Rear spring perches

You might want to consider bolt-on spring perches. I'm not sure if these would work for you though. I have used weld-on perches but with tubular hydraulic shocks.

Re: Ford Lockheed (1) Brake Adjustment Aid?

I have those on my AV8, simply because I wanted hydraulic brakes and the parts were available. I find them easy to adjust as they are. When I first installed them I covered the shoes with sidewalk...

Re: Lub for 34 Ford U Joint Housing

Pump the corn head into the grease nipple. When you see it at the turtle hole then you know it's full. It might take a full cartridge of grease.

Re: Wesenberg EVR- voltage cycling problem

I installed one of Tom's EVR's about 5 years ago and it has been working well ever since, but I did have some initial problems with it. Looking back on past correspondence with him, these were the...

Re: turn indicator lights

If you can find a plastic 35mm film cannister the flasher will fit inside and you can screw the cannister to the kick panel. Worked for me but that was 20 years ago when they were plentiful....

Re: 1930 Sport Coupe Landau Irons

Yes, I see that and its also in the painting guide. I was quoting from How to Restore Your Model A Volume 5. I don't know which is correct, but I guess if being judged then you indeed are correct....

The only problem with 16" rims is finding tires that are narrow and tall enough to fit the 4" wide rims, look good and fit your budget. You can go modern radials for lower cost but very limited...
