Re: F2 and F250 backing plates

You mention MT brand. I'm not familiar with them. Who carries them? Speedy Bill? How do they compare with Wilson welding and can you buy just the loaded backing plates as I already have the Buick...

F2 and F250 backing plates

Has anyone ever used the early 50's truck backing plated and the 45 fin Buick drums? I have done several of these conversions but always used Wilson welding Bendix backing plates and hubs and drilled...

Re: Vlaue of a 390

The 390 is a very good engine. I ran several in the late 60's and 70's in my 57 Fairlane with 2x4's. The only downfall with a 390 is that now they are getting expensive to build and a little harder...

Re: Y block fuel pump

I picked up another new fuel pump from a local auto parts yesterday and now all seems well. I think the used one I had on the car had a bad check valve.

Re: Y block fuel pump

Okay...I put a used pump on the car for the people and it ran great. I get a call about 8 days later that the car wont start. In the meantime I got a new Carter pump. So I go to the peoples house and...

Re: Y block fuel pump

I agree Jim. Thing is though this car belongs to a lady and this car was her fathers car. She is a real stickler for original plus it has the vacuum wipers. I bought a new Carter and went to install...

Re: Y block fuel pump

The guy was driving about 35 and car quit. I went to where he was and checked for spark all was good. Pulled fuel line off carb. and cranked engine for about 15 sec. and no fuel. Hooked hose to the...

Y block fuel pump

Has anyone ever had a mech. fuel pump that has pressure on the carb. side but will not suck fuel on the inlet? This is an Airtek 4206 pump and I do know there are no inlet air leaks.

Re: 312 rear main seal

[QUOTE=Ole Don;1845606]I have seen more leaks at the holders mount than the actual seal. Make all the parts very clean, use lacquer thinner or acetone and Q Tips. The threads on the two bolts too....

Re: 312 rear main seal

If you still have the rope seal still you will need to get creative to remove it. Slightly loosen the main caps and make some little picks and needle nose pliers to remove. That's the hardest part....

Re: 64 Ford Galaxie 289 carburetor sizing

I would probably consider a 1850-1 Holley as they have the throttle linkage that will look correct on your car. Good basic 600 CFM carb. you may want to jet primary's down slightly depending on your...

Re: cant figure out fire to dizzy

I hope I am understanding your problem. You should be able to manually open/close points and get spark. Have you checked to see if the wire connected to the points has power? On Mallory dist. make...
