Re: Again?! this time juddering at a stop

How about the clutch? Have you had problems with it engaging smoothly. I guess it's possible that it is not releasing smoothly. Reverse of when it shudders upon engagement. Never heard of it...

Re: Helmet distributor an a 4 cylinder

Don't know how you would adapt it, but the 30's and 40's Ford tractors had a front mounted distributor. It looked at least similar to a helmet cap dist. mechanical advance, if I remember right.

Re: A few questions on a 8BA

My dad and my grandad both had flathead pickups.

Grandad had an F3 with a 239 and 4-speed with granny low. The clutch in that truck always had a tendancy to shudder and jerk, partly because it...

Re: Over Fill Oil

Put it in from the outside, after cutting the bendable ends off to about 1/4'" long. Put a slight bend in the two legs and it will stay in the hole. Don't leave it too long, as it may hit the...

Re: I picked up a cheap 38 standard and put it on the road.

Great Story! So good to see your daughters getting involved in your interests. I also enjoyed "Stairway To Heaven". My son's band did that song 20 years ago when they were in High School.

It's...

Re: Emergency BrakeCable

On my '48 with open drive shaft, I routed the cable above the drive shaft. I had a little trouble keeping the shaft from hitting it at the clevis piece where the rear cables attach.

Re: '53 Borg Warner O/D help

I had a thought about the reverse lock-out pin, which prevents the use of reverse while overdrive is engaged, or something to that effect.

Re: Getting on Fordbarn

I have had trouble recently accessing Ford Barn or Jalopy Journal on my Apple Mini. I would usually use Safari to get to Ford Barn but started getting a message that said Safari was unable to make a...

Re: Help with Identifying a part

You would also see these on the early Ford Tractors, 2N, 8N, and 9N. Don't think my 54 NAA has a hand-crank adaptor.

Re: Throw out arm travel

Looks like you did the same as I did. Giving yourself a choice of mounting holes to vary the ratio of lever movement with respect to pedal movement. I did it at the pedal lever tho. with basically a...

Re: Throw out arm travel

My 48 with an OT engine/trans has a hydraulic clutch with about 3/4" of travel at the pushrod contact point of the throw-out arm. It works fine but could probably use a little more travel.

Re: '40 Disk/Drum brakes, no rear brake problem

Have your rear cylinders been serviced/rebuilt? Any leak would cause the problem you are having with bleeding.

Re: Looking to ID parts

It also could be a spot light ring, seeming to be a little smaller than most headlamps.

Re: 39-40 coupe struts

I also have air shocks on the rear of my 48. Monroe air ride or something like that. They lift the rear just enough, due to the weak springs. Have to keep an eye on the pressure, tho as they leak...
