We just junked one of those. I can’t remember exactly what it was but something kept jumping off the lifters if it sat for a week or more. My dad messes with the newer stuff so idk. The injectors...

Someone seems to now be reproducing them. There’s an ad in hemmings for new 53 Mercury gas tanks. Will check the listing when I get home if you’d like.

I don’t remember who told me but I’ve heard that the 55 ford is a similar tank to the mercury. It was an older gentleman who sold Mercury parts. He sold out his business a few years ago however.

A lot of old engines look like that. Most of the time it’ll wash off if you ever get it good and hot.

Bottom of the radiator support should have 2 bolt holes they face inwards. I would get a pic but mine aren’t on either atm.

Though those temps sound fine as stated if you want to try something to get them lower and the motor has a been together awhile you might try a block cleaner by evaporust, I can’t recall the name of...

If this Is the plastic piece you’re talking about it’s not owner installed, and it is a map light.

As far as the turn signal goes we just traced the wires coming from the base of the steering column to find mine. Mine was just shoved into the lip of the dash.

The plastic cover is if I'm not mistaken a map light. I cant remember exactly how you turn it on. I haven't looked at it in a while. There should be two lights on the side of the dash as well shining...

Timberlane green and ivory sounds right. I can’t remember where I got the color from. It may have been from my 49-57 Ford parts book. I’ll check tomorrow if there is a section on paint.

how is he a smart ass? If its been converted it should say 6 or 12 on the bulb. If the spark plugs are out it should be fairly easy to turn it by hand. Regardless can you bump start it by pulling it...

hmm... my 53 was a "woodland green" with ivory top. i was told it came from the town of Mackenzie Tennessee but I wonder how many were actually ordered that way?
