Remove this bolt?
I have never drilled out a bolt, but this may be the time. Someone long ago decided to replace the correct nut/bolt with this and it will not budge. The metal is too soft for visegrips and too...

Re: How to Restore 29 Phaeton Top Irons?
Thanks, Dick.
You are quite correct, when I set up the top, I had no idea that the hooked end of the the #2 bow was supposed to lock - like you, I've seem a number of pictures where it had...

Re: How to Restore 29 Phaeton Top Irons?
Ok...
Found the parts you referenced above at maffi.org, eg, 37400: TOP RIB SOCKET #4 SHELL REINFORCEMENT - LOWER. They are $35 for each print. Any suggestions on which drawings will be needed?

Re: How to Restore 29 Phaeton Top Irons?
Yes. Definitely! With the part numbers, where do we go to get prints?
This is very helpful - and daunting! What would you say to using a 2+ pound expanding foam? It would definitely provide...

Re: How to Restore Β29 Phaeton Top Irons?
Promising idea! Any structural support is going to be a function of how well the inserted material conforms to the interior. I keep wondering if there isn't a high density closed cell expanding...

Re: How to Restore 29 Phaeton Top Irons?
Thanks, Brent. I will check the crossbows as you suggest. However, I'm still confused as to what to use to properly support the curved internal portions of the bows and also have something to tack...

Re: How to Restore 29 Phaeton Top Irons?
Thanks for pointing out that hard rubber will hold nails/staples well. There must be an epoxy or similar that can be injected/pressed into the curve that would have both strength and staple holding...

Re: Windshield Frame
Thanks, Brent!
My top is shot and the windshield is not right, so I've got a new blank steel frame. Your measurements are a great help.
Question: This shows a hole for the wiper. I have posted...

Re: Windshield Frame
Same here. The existing frame is not correct (oval and chromed). It has snaps, but I want to make sure the new frame is correctly done. The new roof will come after.
Any help with measurements??

29 Phaeton Upholstery Color
I’m reading the Judging Standards and they seem to say that ‘29 Phaetons had only one upholstery color: blue-grey colonial grain (Page 12-2). I don’t have the latest revisions (only 1 and 2), but...

Pros and cons of removable Phaeton top?

Restoring '29 std phaeton. Seat upholstery in good shape. Needs new top. Unlike the roadster, the phaeton top is stapled on at the rear tack bar.
