It all depends on the fender "reinforcement" that is welded too the inside of
the fender were the 1/4" carriage bolts go through. Is it a flat plate OR does
it look like a "dog bone" about 2"...

You are measuring the "installed height" of the valve stem and the retainer.
With that figure you measure the spring, in your spring checker, and that will
give you the spring pressure with the...

The reason that they are bent is the angle of the actuating lever is laying back,
they NEED too lay toward the front of the car. With them angled straight...

The only thing that should be noted, in the photos, the tie rod ends are on the wrong
side....the clamping bolts go to the rear..

Well too a point...
The 2 tie rod bolts are always to the BACK.. There are different styles of tie rod ends.

The bed is unique! The bottom part of it has a different shape and it is, I think LONGER by 1" too 1.5"! You should talk with Charles Reese,...he know all this.

Pete,

Were talking OLD quick change rears for 1928 - 1948 Fords.
Yes I know about those engines and the rear ends. I built the second or third Arias engine for a Midget back in the early 80's...

I think you'd be better of with Midget crew chief that's local,..a "short track"
racer. Those guy have done it for years,..and you could be in on the job.
Most Midget's have Model A's...but some...

1. One piece valve with hard Chrome stem..
2. Two piece valve with hard Chrome stem..

Hello Brent,

Best guess,...it could be as high as 20 pounds..PLUS the spring doesn't
seat well ! Also,..I think that the one piece guides should have "liners"
installed,...that makes them bomb...

Well yes,...that could be done,...BUT that's not what we want to do. IF you weld it your
committed. We'er doing 3 quickchange rears,..(1) "101" and (2) "201",..and I'm sure
that the customers will...

drive shaft re-spline

Who is the fellow in Paso Robles that re-splines drive shafts? He also does
the torque tubes.
Were doing a Quick Change and need a shorter shaft to fit..

I agree with what you say...also, lapping the taper of the axle too the hub
is a big deal..makes for a good fit.

There needed! It keeps the whole mess tight.....so it's not sloppy.
I found some and had to shorten them to work, try Mc Master-Carr.

The quadrant, were the spark/gas rods ride on is a press fit. I used a piece of 2" sch 80
ABS and trimmed to fit the quadrant and tapped it DOWN. That relieves some of the pressure on the bushing....
