Re: Let's see your cupholder ideas

I use a 1 pound coffee can with one screw into the floor board.
A local auto parts store has a banner hanging on the wall that says
"Remember the days when your cup holder sat next to you wearing a...

Re: Pick up seat options

Thanks Carl,
I am not very familiar with Jeeps, do you know about what year seats you are using?

Pick up seat options

Have you replaced your 30/31 pick up seats with bucket seats?
If so, what fits?
Thanks

Re: Mitchell Overdrive problem

High gear is with shift rod in, shift lever forward.
Low gear is with shift rod out, shift lever rear.
Neutral is in between.

Re: Mitchell Overdrive problem

Disconnect the shift lever from the unit.
Hit the shift mechanism on the unit with a hammer. Driving it in.
If it still pops out it is the unit, not the linkage.
These were Steve's directions.

Internal engine paint

I just cleaned up an oil pump, the only debris on the screen was flakes of paint from inside the block and/or valve chamber.
What is the reason some people paint the inside of an engine?

Re: Is this normal wear? Aluminum cam gear

These cars have been roaming the planet for over 90 years now without the need for oil pressure.
I am going to eliminate the oil pressure modification.

Re: Is this normal wear? Aluminum cam gear

The good news is that I investigated a noise and was able to find the problem before my engine was destroyed.
I removed each main cap and inspected the
babbit and measured the clearances. They...

Re: Is this normal wear? Aluminum cam gear

The copper pipe that supplied oil to the center main was broken allowing oil to recirculate in the sump and not get to the valve chamber.

Somebodies nonsense modification failed.

Re: Is this normal wear? Aluminum cam gear

Update but no conclusion.
Only the center main is pressured with a copper pipe from oil pump shaft to center bearing cap.
I removed the oil pan, front cover and valve chamber cover.
As you know,...

Re: Is this normal wear? Aluminum cam gear

I ran the engine with the timing gear cover removed for a few minutes. There was no oil from the valve chamber coming onto the cam gear.
When I bought the truck five years ago the old guy said the...

Is this normal wear? Aluminum cam gear

The edges of my aluminum cam gear seem to be rolled over on to the top of the gear tooth. The bit rolled over is probably 0.002 to 0.004 inches. It easily scrapes off.
Is this normal wear and tear...

Re: Grab handle

I made one with a piece of hardwood and some 3/4 inch metal bar.
The metal can be bent in a "U" shape or two "L" shapes and can be drilled to pickup existing holes in the dash.
