Thanks for the update - glad you were able to figure out. In this case you may have been able to narrow things down quickly by 1st disconnecting the fan belt, would have ruled out the generator and...

Sticky valve? Add Marvel Mystery Oil in the gas, perhaps in the oil. With the motor running some use a misting bottle and spray into the carb intake, some spray into the intake manifold fitting...
