Re: Motor Meter or Quail

They will even steal your regular radiator cap.

Doesn’t matter where you live. If you leave your car in a parking lot, your asking for trouble.

Re: Connecting Rods Hitting Oil Pan Baffle?

To be safe! I would drop the oil pan. Better safe than sorry.

You never know for sure unless you can see it first hand.

Re: Car Is Shrinking........

Car has to much History. You must find a way to keep her in the family.

It’s like your baby cup. You may not be able to still use or need it, but the item represents something you will never get...

Re: Car Is Shrinking........

Our 1929 Sport Coupe we owned for 42 years. Reluctantly sold it two years ago for the reasons you have mentioned.

I really loved that car but I no longer was able to easily get in or out. Plus I...

Re: Leaking gas tank

Are you planning on keeping the car? Do you want it fixed right or just the cheapest way?

Two years ago, I sold our 1929 that we owned for 42 years. 40 years ago I fixed the same problem. ...

Re: Safety cage?

After 65 years owning Model A Fords I gave up in 2022 and sold the last one.

Safety had become one of the biggest reasons it was sitting in our garage.

My family now drive Volvo’s. Do you...

Re: Value of an Un-Restored Model A Engine

As a long time Model A guy and antique collector, I hate to say this, but!

In my many years with these cars, I have never seen a engine that was just sitting in a garage or barn that was worth...

Re: Front fender crack

Many years ago I had a crack on the front passenger side fender right at the top. The car had just been painted and I was really upset.

However, my old time body man who had done the body repairs...

Re: Wishbone question

Fine a new axel that is not bent.

I had a wish bone that did the same thing.

I had the axel straighten, everything fit fine.

Enjoy.

Re: Distributor shafts - one piece or two piece?

Every one piece shaft that I have seen, is bent, and we replaced them with two piece shafts.

This alone solved a lot of engine noise on those engines.

Re: Model A Hard to Steer

I agree! A properly maintained Model A can be steered using one hand while driving down the road.

I would jack up your front end and completely check things out. See how it turns with the weight...

Re: Grinding

Simple stupid is were to start. Change your transmission again. Get another bottle from a different supplier. I have been using half 600w and half STP. Has worked well for many years.

Re: Prices going through the roof?

RONN is right on.

Correctly rebuilt front end and brakes, shocks, good springs, tires, gas...

Re: Front and Rear Brakes, Drums

My favorite Model A saying after 62 years of owning them is,

“Don’t try to fix something that’s not broken”.

Clean it up, grease it, put it back together and adjust. You will be good to go.

Re: Prices going through the roof?

Right on point! It’s a hobby. For most of us, it’s not really an investment.

Mutual Funds average 7 to 8 percent yearly return on average.

Re: Front and Rear Brakes, Drums

Sounds like you should be good to go with a little adjusting.

You will always have fading under hard or long distance stopping. Be careful on long hills.

Parking brake? Do both rear wheels...

Re: Front and Rear Brakes, Drums

How were your brakes working before you took everything apart?

Your shoes along with everything else look great.

Maybe just adjustment is all that needs to be done.

Smile Re: Prices going through the roof?

For what it’s worth. I second RONN’s comments.

Generally, pricing is all about how much the buyer wants a particular car.
