Cylinder head install video series

I've posted the last video in my series on installing a new cylinder head. The series is oriented toward those installing a HC head for the first time. I had the idea to do the series six months ago,...

Re: Filler putty for aluminum intake?

As promised, picture. I mentioned above that I'm gonna try JB Weld for the repair, so we'll see how it goes.

Re: Ok, i'll poke the bear..Ethanol or Straight Gasoline ?

If you're going to do a poll, do an actual poll. The board lets you start a poll on any new thread.

Re: Exhaust leak...BADDDD!!!

Why wouldn't a sleeve compensate for improper alignment? The whole point of the sleeve is that it slides tightly into each bore and forces them to align properly.

Re: Exhaust leak...BADDDD!!!

The sleeve linked to above is good at what it does, which primarily is helping the muffler and the exhaust manifold line up correctly. It's very easy to attach them so that they're slightly...

Re: Sudden rough running, out of ideas

I took a look at your original thread, my recommendation would be to leave this thread in the dustbin of history and start a new one. :) I think your engine and mine have different problems.

Re: Sudden rough running, out of ideas

So in the end it turned out that the rough running was due to a hardened exhaust valve seat coming loose. That's... rare.

If you do have an exhaust leak, the exhaust gases can get sucked into the...

Re: Filler putty for aluminum intake?

I wrote to JB Weld and they recommended using the original epoxy, which is good up to 550. So I think I'm gonna go that direction since I already have that.

I'm planning to use an original...

Re: Filler putty for aluminum intake?

I found that in my research, but I wasn't sure how it would fare at high temperature.

Re: Ignition switch question

What you're seeing is that one side of the circuit is live, but it's not a complete circuit. Current comes from the battery into one side of the coil, wraps around the core a few times, and then...

Re: Filler putty for aluminum intake?

Correct. Now that you mention it, I guess I will need to check it against the manifold I plan to use it with, because the thickness of the ears needs to be close on each one or the washers won't...

Re: Filler putty for aluminum intake?

I thought about it, it kinda seems like overkill. Particularly for this type of intake, which doesn't bolt to the exhaust and thus doesn't have to be milled flat relative to it. But I'd consider it...

Thanks, I'll bookmark that.

Will provide one tonight. The intake is one of Tod's as shown in this post (https://www.fordbarn.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1455283&postcount=27). It's one of the...

Filler putty for aluminum intake?

I've acquired a basic aluminum downdraft intake. There is a small divot in one of the mating surfaces that I would like to fill. If this were cast iron, I'd use JB Weld ExtremeHeat, but since it's...

Re: Brake lights

I often recommend that folks add an LED brake light in the rear window. Not original, but a much more functional cue to modern drivers and you can leave the original brake light as is. They can also...

Re: Napa Auto Parts

If you need something in two days or less, way cheaper to get it from NAPA when you factor in express shipping.

Re: Manifold Bolts

I put anti-seize on the manifold stud coarse threads to make sure they come back out, so possibly the guy before you did that as well.

This is great, I didn't know this existed.

Is the "condenser" in the list the V8 one? I assume so.

Re: Evans waterless engine coolant

The appeal of Evans for Leno is that he has a bazillion cars and it's worth it not to have to change the coolant in them or worry about corrosion.
