Thanks for your reply FIV. The Abell occasionally remained engaged, but a heavy duty bendix spring (unknown make) fitted to the switch as a resistor seems to have solved that. Now it occasionally...

My '28 A currently has an Abell starter and I am running it on 12v. The flywheel is the early type (not reduced diameter) with a multi-plate clutch. In order to preserve the starter drive...
