pre ethanol tank sealer was shellac and not soluble in real gas, new gas will disolve it and make real mess in your engine. how do know this.

what happens a lot is that the pot metal has expanded and binds the shaft length wise. you need to move parts on the shaft apart a bit to free it up. i dont recall how i did it but i used a vice to...

some fans and or shafts were made with the wrong taper. it will keep getting loose even if you keep tightening it until it gets your radiator.

Its shellac based tank sealer that was used before ethanol gas. Ethanol is a shellac solvent. When the egas is vaporized in the carb the shellac is free to coat everything from the carb on.

I re threaded the axle to 9/16 and also made a much longer nut from hex stock that engages more of the axle threads. Just one hole for key adjusted for proper torque by lightly sanding the length...

The large end of the horn is connected to the horn motor and the horn tapers smaller towards where the sound comes out.

if you have the wrong taper you can tighten it but it will get loose again even

Just a guess but I don't think Ford used a primer before dipping. When the paint wore through the primer did not show through like my ugly fenders with red primer showing.
