Re: 12 year old Coker tires, still ok?

I have 13 year old Cooper Cobras on my 57 Chevy right now with zero miles. I bought them thinking the restoration would go quickly and well.... it didn’t. I will use those tires/wheels for 30...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

Just using the highly calibrated Mk I Eyeball, it appears as though the line of rotation is the camshaft, correct? Since the forward mount is open wide enough for the timing gear to fit I assume it...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

I actually saved an old SBC timing chain just for that purpose. That is on my list of things to do before I go back to work after the New Year. Problem is I have about 2000 hours worth of stuff on...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

I like that! I guess since there have been thousands of these flatheads mounted that way, they won't crack at the exhaust bolt holes. I will probably build one of those too, then see which one I...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

All three of the blocks are 59AB or earlier with the cast in bellhousing. The picture I uploaded is just a photo of a I found that was already built like what I am building.

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

That's where I got them from, I just want to make sure my eyeballs are working as they should. I've tried to find a CAD model to use, but no luck. I didn't think I had a set of exhaust manifolds,...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

Can someone check my numbers to make sure my numbers are correct? I'm using a pretty precise measuring device (tape measure) and my Mark 1 Calibrated Eyeball to make the measurements. It seems as...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

Nope, I’m down in Auburn, Alabama. I will get more photos although I have started disassembling them and cleaning parts. The aluminum heads are off and I will paint them dark green with polished fin...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

I’m doing a different style than the single side mount, I’m making one like this.

That one has a Stromberg EE-7/8 (81). The other came with an ordinary 97.

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

Here are the engines I’m working on. A 1941/2 engine with Fenton heads. This was close to running when I bought it. Two 1948 59ABs, one in good shape, one rusted up.

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

Yep, understood about that but I wanted to make sure my 1” difference was close. Thanks!

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

I picked up some 3/8” thick 2” angle to use instead of the 3/16” 3” angle. I already made the brackets in the thinner stuff, so at least I know where the bolt holes go. It appears as though the left...

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

I bought a handful of grade 8 3/8 that are 1 inch, it seems like the center bolts need to be shorter than that. I’m using 3/16” thick angle as the mount.

Re: Repair exhaust bolt hole

I didn’t know that! These motors came without exhaust manifolds so I didn’t get a chance to pull the bolts out. I’m in the process of making an engine stand adapter to strip down the motors and the...

Repair exhaust bolt hole

I have a 48 59AB that has a stripped out bolt hole for one of the exhaust holes. What would be the best way to repair that? Helicoil?
Thanks!

Re: Clayborne engine overhaul stand attachments maybe available

If someone has the specs on this or a way to make them, let me know. I have 3 59ABs that I have to rebuild.
