Re: 1928 Powerhouse charging
Turns out that I have a battery coming. And I like the charging options posted by Katy. Hadn't looked into 6v maintainers - I'm a believer, have them on other 12v cars.
The car gets started a few...

Thanks rotorwrench. That should work. Takin' the old girl [unrestored touring car] out to a meet this weekend - always a hit.

Re: 1928 Powerhouse charging
Thanks for the replies fellas.
It is essentially a new battery. 20 or 30 starts on it over the last 10 years.
So IMO buying batteries for this kinda of service is quite wasteful. Not only...

1928 Powerhouse charging
The battery in my '28 is very old and not at all serviceable. It will hold volts but certainly has no cranking power. My intention is to operate the car by hand cranking only. When running I notice...

Re: 1928 Touring Seats
I got them figured out. I think. Determining was a bit difficult due to some deforming. Snyders was a bit more informative when I found the listings - back rests are the same front to back, cushions...

Re: 1928 Touring Seats
Thanks J. I'm quite sure that the seat spring assemblies are original to the car. There is no wood remaining. Your comments give me something to look for. I will look for the rear back rest that...

Re: 1928 Touring Seats
Over the years I have tried many times to test fit but I can't make hide nor hair of the fittment. Non fit anywhere very well. Don't see much in the way of illustrations in Snyders but Mac's has some...

My 28 A Touring/Phaeton's seat springs are completly bare with no fabric or stuffing remaining. Can any tell me how to determine Front/Rear, Cushion/ Backrest?
Thanks, Frank

Thanks Eagle. My system is a bit leaky so I have been running water and WP lube.

Coolant
Hi all. I am going to drain my coolant [water] in my '28 for the winter. If I drain via the petcock on the lower hose steel tube will I safely drain all with no chance of leaving residual water to...

Re: Got the old girl home
So those that are having problems with a points welded cut out could simply leave it as is and install a diode in line and have a more reliable system....

Re: Got the old girl home
This diode idea I've seen is intriguing. In theory the gen should be able to charge straight through a diode? Eliminating the cut out?
The cut out I have had very low hours. It is a...

Re: Got the old girl home
Thanks 40. There was continuity across the cut out so I removed the cover. It was a brand new unit many years ago with very little hours. There was a little dot of metal completing the circuit welded...

Re: Got the old girl home
Thanks Tom, as I said it does motor when I put power directly to the gen [to the stud]. I am wondering if it should motor when I put power [6v] to the cut out? I think not?

Re: Got the old girl home
Thanks fella's. My question is still he same. Is the replacement seal a flexible piece of rope or a solidly formed, almost not conformable, almost rock like object? I just can't see how it will...

Re: Got the old girl home
There was very little sludge in the pan - not really worth taking a pic of :-)
Another question ... In the pan gasket set I received from a local guy, he takes the rope seal out of the set and...
