In florida we had black racers (very fast hence the name). We always left them alone. They like mice and rat nests. Up here we have garter snakes in the summer. I don't see as many anymore as I did...

Oddly enough so do chipmunks! Chipmunks are also very territorial.

If they weren't so destructive to structures, they'd be great to have more around.

Wives tale. Just as effective if you have a stray dog on a sheep farm, soaking sponges in bacon grease. Well that might work better.

Mothballs contain naphthalene. Not great to inhale, but not totally bad either. Recommended to not use them in the house. Sheds etc better then most stuff. If consumed it is poison. But they are...

Hawks, owls, eagles, minks... snap trap them mice. No worries there will always be more mice. Outside of roaches they will outlive us all. :)
