Re: Oil Filter Canister Question

I have been looking for a duplicate sticker like the one on your filter. The Kralinator Ford of Canada sticker. Is anyone duplicating them? My 54 Meteor has one, and it was intact until I pressure...

Power brake booster grommet - 1968 Merc.

Need to replace the grommet and might as well change the booster check valve on my 1968 Cyclone GT. Cannot find a listing or confirm a Dorman number anywhere with specs. The hole on the booster is 1...

Re: What did you do today that was flathead V8 related?

Yesterday I helped a friend fire up a 49 Mercury truck that has sat since the 70s. Pulled the starter as it wasn't working. Reinstalled, couldn't get spark but turned over nicely. Plug wires were...

Re: Second times a Charm.

Wow is right!! What an impressive engine. Out of a junkyard it already made healthy power, and with simple add-ons I'm SO impressed with the results. Stock heads to boot! Amazing.

If you haven't...

Re: Polarizing the generator

Three years ago I fired up a 54 Meteor (Canadian Ford) that was parked in 1966. Nobody had attempted to start it ever in that time.

When I got the engine running the charging system worked...

Re: Public Service Announcement: Avoiding Ethanol

Yes letting them sit is when ethanol is a big problem. I try and start every winterized engine in the yard at a bare minimum once over winter. Usually over Christmas I do this. Just today I went out...

Re: 1962 Galaxie radio speaker connector

I ran into the same issue, did not have the right connector. Ended up using two cotter pins, cut shorter, one smaller than the other, and they fit in the holes perfectly. I soldered the speaker wire...

Re: Can 12V horn from '50s' be adapted for 6V system?

I use one of these in my 54 Meteor to power a 12v power port, and a hidden Bluetooth transmitter in the ashtray. Also have a few USB charge ports. Works great.

I did have to replace it after I...

Re: 54 Meteor (Ford) rear axle seals.

Thanks for all the help guys, I put the car back together last night and drove it around the block a few times, all is well. Gene F, good tip on pulling those axles, I will remember this for the next...

Re: 54 Meteor (Ford) rear axle seals.

I had a heck of a time getting the axle out. I do not have a slide hammer (yet) but I used a big sledgehammer and an axle puller with a chain around it. I cannot believe how many times, and how hard...

Re: 54 Meteor (Ford) rear axle seals.

Ok, yes you're right, the SKF 13865 is the correct seal. I will exchange the two wrong ones tomorrow. They are clearly too small. My micrometer does not really fit in there so I couldn't get an...

54 Meteor (Ford) rear axle seals.

Hey guys,

Have to replace the axle seals on my 1954 Meteor, a Canadian Ford. I got one of the axles out, man was it stuck in there. Anyway, I changed the rear seals two years ago in my other...

Re: Lost a hubcap from my 54 Meteor.

I am totally interested in this! Those hubcap centers are very hard to come by. Please send me the pics, or post them here. I have been wondering how to make new ones for quite some time.

Re: Holley 1901 choke pull off is weak.

I removed it again, and this time blew compressed air into both ports on the intake manifold. I got a lot of air through both. Will see how it performs on a cold morning.

Your statement about how...

Holley 1901 choke pull off is weak.

Have a 54 Meteor, which is a Canadian Ford with the 255 Merc flathead and the Holley 1901 2 bbl carb. Canada got the flathead one more year than the US in some models.

I actually have three of...

I think the smallest you can get in that type of gear is a 19 tooth, at least that was the smallest I could find online. Here is an example:

Re: Clock for a 52-53 Mercury

Found a discussion on the diode clock fix. Here is what the guy said for which diode to use: Use a 1N4007 general purpose diode.

Go here and look at post number 15 for more details:...

Re: Clock for a 52-53 Mercury

You can actually put a diode across the points which eliminates the spark. Then you will never have to clean the points again, and they stay clean forever. The guy that fixed my 6 volt radio told me...

Re: uncanny stories

In 2003 I bought a 1973 Blue VW beetle for parts. It was just like a blue 73 beetle my dad had in the late 70s/early 80s for a couple years in a small town in northern Alberta. I told my dad that I...
