Re: Torque Tube Connection to Transmission

If it helps at all I modified some nuts for this application. I took some 10mm flanged nuts and ran a 7/16 UNF tap through. I might have turned the flange down a little too. These 10mm flange nuts...

Re: Torque Tube Connection to Transmission

I've made special nuts for that application. A lathe is your friend.

Re: 6 volt pos. grand flasher

You can quieten down a loud one by wrapping tape around it. You can (normally) tune it to an acceptable level.

Re: So, my '36 sedan delivery: restore or leave the patina POLL

I'd leave it substantially as it is, but I would give it a wash and polish the paint so it can look the best it can. Actually just a wash is probably best as polishing can leave white residue in the...

Re: Hubcap positioning?

I believe it is not unknown when in a studio photographic session to jack each wheel up so it can be rotated to be the right way up and let down again.

Re: Hubcap positioning?

Yes, I do it too (when I remember).
Tyre brand aligned with valve hole. Hubcap aligned with valve hole, but I align the top of the V8 with the valve.
I try and do it with screw heads....

Re: wiring question, '36 Ford

Mike, as Kevin says, it's the main feed for all the electrical circuits on the car (except horn). All your cars must be getting their power from somewhere. There is a battery cable going to a...

Re: So, my '36 sedan delivery: restore or leave the patina POLL

Option 1. You get much more fun for the effort spent.

Re: Flat Spot

The French distributor is vac advance only, no mech advance. I had one where the vac advance had failed. So I had no advance. Make sure yours is working. I'm not sure where the vac source is on a...

Re: Any help on crank pulley removal?!?

I would try getting a piece of plate about 1/2" thick and tapping a 1/2" unf thread in it. I'd turn it down until it fitted just inside the pulley and weld it to the remnants. The weld would be only...

Re: Mercury Meets A Mopar

Hi Ralph. I saw those guys and that car on coldwarmotors. They certainly have covered some miles in that old Mopar. Coldwarmotors is a great channel on youtube and always worth a watch.

Re: Clutch diameter question

It's a 9". The flywheel with the raised heavy rim only accepts a 9" clutch.

Re: 1942 Ford deluxe coupe project

GB's comment gave me a chuckle this morning.

"Now you can cross those buckets off your list."

I see what you did there, GB.

Ha ha yeah, that's it. They shrink over time. What other explanation could there possibly be?

Re: '39 - '41 Brakes - OK to be backwards on the Hub?

Just remember "Big Big"
Big end of the cylinder and longer brake shoe lining to the front.
Your linings both appear to be short, with one at one end of the shoe and the other at the other end....

Re: in-line elec fuel pump not pushing through mechanical pump

If you are only using the electric pump to prime you probably don't need the regulator. Just run the pump for a few seconds and turn it off. My electric primer pump makes a ticking noise. when the...

Re: Twin Carb "issues"

"new" as in new repro or "new" as in they are new to you but are original 94s?

Re: in-line elec fuel pump not pushing through mechanical pump

It's probably quite normal. The side of the fuel pump where the leak is is normally under suction rather than pressure. It has exposed a weak gasket in that area. If you do disconnect the pipe at the...

Re: Rear Diff Swap

My 41 pickup came with 3.54's. I run 6.50:16s. I had to rebuild the trans and used the 15/29 gearset. It drives great and cruises nicely at 60. The reason for using the gearset with the lower first...

Re: Rear hub removal blues

This thread (not that type of thread) shows a bent axle thread. I wonder if it was caused by a poor or incorrect puller?
