Re: My boomerang just came back

I DO remember that , and the reference is intentional. I will admit it was more on my mom and dad's station, but I remember all those songs like 'Tammy's in Love', and another about a Panama Hat and...

Re: My boomerang just came back

And Denny, This guy is a nice guy and has quite a few interesting and unusual trucks around his place. He actually has a lot more cool trucks than he can drive, including my red jailbar tonner with...

Re: My boomerang just came back

Yes, it was considerably less than I sold it to him for, along with a receipt in the glove box for 1900.00 and change for four new load range E toyo M-55s in my favorite size. 255 85 r 16. They are...

My boomerang just came back

To start with, let me say that this F350 I drove home yesterday is not a good fit on this particular forum. I just thought my friends here might enjoy it. Also if the link doesn't work, then maybe...

Re: Out With The 52.

Thanks Ralph. We always know spring is in the air when you post up your first drive. The Merc and it's family history always brings a smile.

Re: 1932 The Deuce, Dually, Dump Truck

Chris I have also missed 'visiting' with you and your family at the old sugarworks. It has been a memorable trip watching what you and John and others have done to get your '32 up and running under...

Re: Bare Bones Fords

But there are those of us that have never seen this and it's an excellent piece of literature. So glad it's up and in glorious color!

Re: My 1934 Ford Has A New Home

And to top it all off, this fine young man is a Ford mechanic! I agree, the story is a great one. Congratulations to all.

Re: Bare Bones Fords

Here are some photos of the bare cowl. From research, I found that the '40-'41' cowl (or cab) is interchangeable with the '42-'47 with a few fender holes altered. I bought 5 jailbar trucks in a...

Re: Bare Bones Fords

And the factory ford cowl. There are pics of this cowl as found in my thread here called '40 front fenders' which fizzled out because the 40 fenders weren't working with the toyota's wheelbase....

Re: Bare Bones Fords

That picture was taken at my place in 2016. I had just sawn the 1/2 ton pickup's cab off at the windshield to convert into a one-off phantom woodie wagon. The entire process is chronicled here on a...

Re: No Diesel oil

I too use diesel oil. Chevron Delo, Shell Rotella or Napa house brand. Seems one of those is on sale at our Napa store here on any given week. I don't think a connecting rod knows if it's in a gas or...

Re: 8BA engine in a 1938 1 ton express pickup truck

My first flathead v8 was in a 38 one ton express about 35 years ago. I ended up putting a 59ab in it, but know an 8ba is fine too. I later bought a '37 1 1/2 ton with an 8ba, and a '32 1 1/2 ton,...

Re: 1940 3/4-1 Ton express frame measurements

Well, I stand corrected. Quite a few differences besides the increase in width in 1942.

" Gimme one two five on the overbore,
Then stomp the ol' go-pedal hard to the floor.
Might...

Re: 1940 3/4-1 Ton express frame measurements

Do you have the large 'U' shaped radiator support and fender holder-upper? That ties everything together and mounts to the front crossmember with two large head carraige bolts and little else. There...

Re: 9" rear in a jailbar truck

Wow! Lots of great info and I'll give it a go. Is the end of our 1/4" hose a tapered pipe thread into the block? IIRC the '71 block is factory swedged to the brass block. So I cut it flush, bore and...

Re: 9" rear in a jailbar truck

I'm not a proctologist, but I've been working on a rear end most of the day. Is there a brakeologist in the house? The little hole bored into the wheel cylinder at the inverted flare fitting is...

Re: 9" rear in a jailbar truck

Yes Tim. I understand that from the video. And the collar was tougher to break off with the air chisel. The bearing races as expected, broke like glass. I cut at about a 45degree angle so as not to...

Re: 9" rear in a jailbar truck

I got a chance today to start stripping parts off the axle assembly. I have watched a few youtube episodes about removing the old wheel bearings and their pressed on keepers. I wasn't sure I liked...
