Re: Head Puller

Hmmmm, so it looks like they did come in pairs so that you could put one on each side of the center water outlet.

To Jim, ain't it infuriating how HD and Lowe's stop carrying some tools once they...

Re: Head Puller

Thanks, G.M. I should have elaborated in my first post. I don't really think I will have use for the thing. I am just enthralled that I found one and got it. It is more of a novelty for my...

Re: TIG Welders

Zeke, there's been a lot of discussions like this over on the HAMB. Seems like everyone gravitates to the name brands of Miller and Lincoln. I have a blue one and I love it, but I never had one...

Head Puller

Sorry, I don't have a picture right now, but I scored a head puller for a flathead.

I saw one of these things in an antique store in Bandera, Texas a few years back. I looked the thing over but...

Re: 1936 Ford with 59ab motor

I don't know about Fentons with a stock steering box. I have them on a '36 (not pickup) that has a '39 box. Took just a bit of grinder massage and that seems fairly common with those. Do you still...

Re: fan on alternator

I'm thinking about running my fan off of the alternator, also. For those with concerns about the front bearing of the alternator, has anyone looked at machining the housing for a larger bearing?

Re: A taller distributor for belt clearance ??

I previously posted this in another thread. Still smoothing up the idler pulley assembly opposite the distributor and going to use a larger diameter pulley on that side. I mount the alternator in...

Re: A taller distributor for belt clearance ??

Bubba, you and I have traded e-mails. I am getting around the clearance problem using an idler pulley to bring the belt down under the distributor. What I have seen in trying to make the Chevy...

Re: 36 pickup windshield seal

Do you mean that you want to crank it out and replace the outer seal? I am not sure about the clearance you would have across the top, if that is what you are proposing to do. If the current seal...

Re: Pcv/59a

You might do a search to find the long, long discussion on this previously. But, in a nutshell, you gotta have an "inny" and an "outy", I think. The crankcase vent used to be the "outy". On the...

Re: Here’s a Question to Ponder.

sanborn, I found the 409 set up on the 'bay, nobody else bid, I bought it cheap and on a whim. It is working well but I never ran this engine with a stock set up to compare it to. On the '36 p/u it...

Re: Here’s a Question to Ponder.

Flatheads cry for bling. In my opinion, the 3 prettiest production engines are the flathead, the Y-block and the Chrysler Hemi. Polished up Offys and those kind of racing engines get my eye, too,...

Re: hyd brake light switch

Drum/drum and disc/disc m-c's will have equal sized reservoirs. A disc/drum will have different sized ones and I the larger one goes to the discs.

Heck, if I'm gonna lie, I'll just say it's massively re-worked and I put 2 inch Chevy valves in it.:D

Re: 1.60 chevy valve quetions

OK, let me ask another dumb question. Aren't the exhaust valves the more critical as far as metallurgy? I mean, an intake valve gets cooled but an exhaust valve takes more abuse because of the...

Re: 1.60 chevy valve quetions

OK, let me beat this horse for clarification. First some background: the last flathead I rebuilt that I have not run yet, I bought a set of brand new stainless valves and a Neway seat cutter. So, I...

Yo Bubba, I see that Accel, Crane and Moroso offer the adjustable cans. I read a report or two on different forums of one brand or the other going bad. Do you have experience with one brand being...

Yeah, I bought one so I know how they are adjusted but I have not installed it yet. I wrongly assumed that the adjustment had something to do with the sensitivity of the diaphragm. You are stating...
