As soon as it starts you should reduce (push in) the choke about half-way.

Be sure that there is play in the master cylinder rod to insure that the piston comes all the way back to allow return of fluid from wheel cylinders. You may still have pressure on the rears even...

Snap off the bezel and then push the switch against the spring and turn to free the bayonet attachment scheme.

I don't think it's for an H engine, though. Looking at a 7HT carb for my '48 F-1 with an H engine, the vacuum port is smaller and is halfway up the lower aluminum section - not in the cast iron...

Back in the day, piston expanders were common. Various approaches. I remember ones that were made of spring steel and worked on the piston pin bosses to encourage that part of the piston to expand....
