Re: Inner Tubes for Radials?
JFYI, Dodge introduced the safety wheel in '40, many years before tubeless tires were first used here in the U.S. by Packard in '54. Also the purpose of the safety wheel is to help keep the tire on...

Re: master cylindeer replacement
It's really not difficult on older vehicles, as long as the master cylinder can fully stroke before bottoming out on the floor, and the same holds true for later modern vehicles.
The front brakes...

Re: master cylindeer replacement
The dual master cylinder is designed to full stroke without any damage. You do NOT want to limit the cylinder stroke with any kind of "stop".

Re: '40 coupe door glass adjustment
Mike, I would have got back sooner but had other business to take care of.
I used a complete glass run kit from Dennis Carpenter. I even used the black staples in the original garnish holes,...

Re: '40 coupe door glass adjustment
All the glass was cut from my originals by someone in the business a long time. He also installed the wings and division bars, but I never checked if the bars were fully seated, something I will try...

Re: '40 coupe door glass adjustment
OK. Here are pictures of the division bar to wing fit. First two are the right door. Second pair are the left door.
The upper wing hinge screws will be replaced with rivets once I'm through...

Re: '40 coupe door glass adjustment
Thanks Merc and Forty. I will spend more time trying to adjust for a better fit. The person who cut all my glass is very experienced and will do what is necessary when he has time to drop by. I...

Re: radial tires on a 55 car wheel (orig)
According to the book by Matt Stone, there were only two Chargers used in the movie, one 4-speed and one auto. The stunt teams wanted the Charger to get ruffed up and loose hubcaps so the factory...

Re: pressed steel bellhousing ,clutch arm
The spring 7997 slips over the end of the release lever and is sandwiched between the pad and release rod in the '49-'51 application. It looks like the spring simply keeps the plate in place to seal...

Re: pressed steel bellhousing ,clutch arm
First, the stamped steel full bell was only used on '49-'51 Ford cars.
You are correct about the assembly: Clutch arm, anti-rattle spring 7562, plate 7513, and pad 7996. The '49-'51 shop manual...

Re: Informal poll - 1948-52 F-1 Front Disc Kit
The early style K/H calipers will work OK, but modern aluminum 4-piston designs would be a better choice, imo.
I agree with not going any smaller than a 1" master, but simply using a disc/drum...

Re: Holley 4150 carburetor development history
The 4150 4-barrel came out in '57. I thought I read many years ago that one of the Edelbrock techs came up with the "modular" idea that also was applied to the 2 barrel 2300 series. The 4150 has...

Re: Edmunds manifold, Twin Stromberg 97 carbs
Now that I clearly see the manifold, it has the overall design and carb placement like most regular 8BA duals. The picture of Tubman's is the odd one I described in my previous post.
