Re: Fire Hazard

Years ago I bought a ratty '31 roadster and noticed a bunch of scratches in the ribbing on the dash panel on the driver's side, next to the gas gauge.
It dawned on me that the scratches were wooden...

Re: is it real or is it Memorex?

The last photo, taken at the MAFFI museum at the Gilmore, is of a very rare 1930 Town Car.

Re: Model B Carburator

In contrast to Synchro909, my B carb equipped 68B likes little to no GAV opening, and got 20mpg on a 5,000 mile trip.

Re: Aligenmet issue 31

One of our club members made a set of alignment dowels that fit into the spring perch and kingpin holes of a removed axle. It's not difficult to correct a bent axle with a shop press using the dowels...

Re: Cabriolet Top Side window flap

The flap should fit over the glass to provide a weather seal. The trim shop that did my 68B did not stretch the fabric far enough and it leaks.

Re: Fan Tapered Hub Damage - help with cause and repair

Picture #6 shows that the woodruff key may have been installed backwards, with the curved portion engaging the slot in the fan hub.

Re: 5/24 A of the day photo

It looks to me like an era stone guard added to a stock '31 shell. Note the vertical bars.

Re: Starter Switch Non-Contact

Keith, the same is true for aftermarket throttle return springs and soft-soled shoes. After a couple hundred miles, the throttle feels like it's coming through your shoe!

Re: Zerk grease adapter fell into housing any harm?

Re: Electrical fire, now to figure out why.

Early car-i.e. 1928-'29-check your brake light switch. If your brakes are low the repo switch will short when the pedal is depressed.
