Re: Why is it so hard for me?
Down the rabbit hole we go! JC Whitney use to sell a rubber expansion plug in a few different sizes for stripped oil pan drains. I may have told this story here before, but I took the family on a...

Re: Why is it so hard for me?
I'm still trying to figure out what's so wrong about putting a metric drain plug into an SAE oil pan.... My dad use to say "Gary, a crossed thread is a Tight Thread". But maybe that was just for...

Re: Shout out to Steve Blancard ndnchf
It's pretty obvious from his posts that he loves what he does. Combine that with the fact that he's also really good at it reminds me of this old Ford hobby 30 years ago! We still have some of the...

Re: Sealant needed on corprene pan gasket?
Denny, that brought a huge smile to my face when I connected all the dots and saw the 5/16 threads where they go in. A set of those would be great to have for reinstalling an oil pan in the vehicle....

Re: Sealant needed on corprene pan gasket?
I Do like the stickem' on just one side for that reason. One of the youtube guys smeared vaseline lightly on the opposite side from the sealant. I just bought a tube of boat trailer wheel bearing...

Sealant needed on corprene pan gasket?
Just wondering what is recomended (if anything) on a cork/rubber oil pan gasket. My full time pro mechanic buddy uses permatex non hardening #2 on both sides, but cruising youtube has a different guy...

Re: Jailbar Grill? Jail Bar and Grill
It's a thing of beauty, that's for darn sure! The headlight loops kinda say 'military', and you're right about the professional fabrication. Perhaps from one of those 2 ton army jailbars with the...

Lawrie, You are an inspiration! To me, just taking the ferry to the mainland in one of my old rigs can be a bit scary, but your trips are truly legendary. You and Ol Henry have taken us on some...

Re: Who rebuilds 1949 Flathead V8 distributors
I went down yesterday to get photos of my NOS. Try as I might I could not get the rotor off so no go on the photo. I will make an attachment for my slide hammer sometime soon and that should do it....

Re: Who rebuilds 1949 Flathead V8 distributors
But I DO believe that those hardware store round head screws in the photo are not correct. I picture a larger, flatter head, what I would call a 'pan head' for better grab. Come to think about it, I...

I guess I never knew that two machine screws were threaded into two of the holes. I guess thst gives just two seat positions for the taller folks. Cramped and more cramped. All my trucks have had the...

Re: 8BA head mismatch-I should probably fix
You might want to consider 'wheelie bars' if you make this mod. As far as balanced compression on both sides, there are videos of our V8s running quite nicely with one head removed entirely.

I looked in my parts truck that has a good seat riser and no bullet tip for locating the front end of the seat. In fact there doesn't seem to be anything up front. Maybe the seat base has parts that...

Re: 46 truck bench seat brackets
Thank you Pete! In these photos, the seat has been slid forward to better show the hold down strap. In driving position this would put the seat about as rearward as possible. Funny when you consider...
