Re: Lincoln Brake Conversion issue
The Lincoln drum/hub looks like it will narrow the track. Is that desirable? The long snout may be a problem for some wheel/hubcap combos. They definitely wont take wire wheels. Have you taken the...

Re: battery charger
What I do know is that my modern charger won't charge a dead flat battery. I have to rock out one of my old jobs and that will get it going.

Re: battery charger
I don't think an old fashioned charger would drain the battery but I have a "modern" one which puts a light on when you connect it to the battery. This is with the plug not plugged in. When I plug it...

Re: Fuel Inlet Fitting?
Both of those nuts are designed for the captive ferrules. The proper nut for the separate ferrules do not have a stepped bore. The bore is a 1/4" (with some clearance).

Re: Fuel Inlet Fitting?
No probs. It just comes down to personal preference. I would hope they might be available rom somewhere for less than the price quoted there, though. I used to buy a carb to fuel pump pipe that had a...

Re: Fuel Inlet Fitting?
The only ones used by Ford on the production line were the type with a separate ferrule. The integral type only pinch the pipe on the end of the ferrule. In other words only one clamp onto the pipe....

Re: Fuel Inlet Fitting?
The fitting into the carb should be the same as the fuel pump outlet. In my opinion the nut with the captive ferrule is not as good as the ones with a separate ferrule. I have used a nut that did...

Re: Brakes Siezing
I would dismantle it and wash it out thoroughly. Cheap insurance. It might already be clean but at least you will know it is clean. I have got a surprising amount of rubbish out of master cylinders...

Re: Clean Out Plugs
You have to tap the plugs in with a punch. It's best to grind a suitable punch to a domed shape to drive them in. I used a smaller diameter flat ended punch and knocked a hole through the end.

Re: 8BA head mismatch-I should probably fix
Ha ha Hi Huey. It was just a pic I found online many years ago. It's a Y block head with a crack in it. The human brain automatically "recognises" faces even if it isn't really a face. I like that it...

Re: 8BA head mismatch-I should probably fix
I don't know about the volume, and I'm not saying you should change anything, but in the interest of science, why not do a compression test? It would be interesting to see if there is a discernible...

Re: Original 1932 frame and repo body
Just an observation but My stock bodied 32 sedan on a stock frame with a stock tank has a lot less than 25mm clearance between the rear part of the body and the tank. I'm not saying my frame is right...

Re: want to undo lowering of my 1941 deluxe
With the weight on the car you could measure between the spring eyes and cut a piece of square tubing or wood and wedge it between the eyes. This assumes a non reversed spring. Then when you lift the...

Re: Curved Vent OPil Tube Question
I used a ford Pilot tube on my 33 with a 59A. The pilot is very long so I cut it down so the cap just sits above the vertical part of the firewall similar to one of the images above. The squashed...

Re: '40 Pickup Steering Column Removal
The shaft is integral to the steering box. It doesn't come out without removing the complete steering box and tearing it down.
This all begs the question: What are you trying to do?
Mart.
