Re: 1953 Ford Customline dies after it gets hot.

Spark should be white - blue. Orange is weak. Gap plugs to .025. Running 6volt? I would `run points and condenser - Dump the petronix. Drolston gave you good advice - petronix does no do well on...

Re: 1953 Ford Customline dies after it gets hot.

And condenser - change out both coil and condenser. And use copper core ignition wires. When it quits after getting hot, remove air cleaner and look down into carb while moving the throttle to see...

Re: Overdrive won't kick down

I would search the Chilton’s Motor Manual on Borg-Warner overdrive. Does the overdrive drop out when the speed drops below 25mph? I know if the circuit for the governor goes to ground without the...

Re: Wondering what it's purpose is?

Are there threads in that hole? The part on my Ford is turned 180 degrees and has a right angle grease fitting screwed into it - fitting points to the rear.

Re: 97 question

I have dual strombergs on a Edelbrock Regular manifold mounted on a 221 - I had the trouble that you describe. I am about 600 ft elevation. I have stock main jets, 71 power valves, blocked heat...

Re: What did I do and how do I fix it? 1953 Mercury

Make sure that the socket is grounded - ohmmeter connected to socket and ground at the battery. I had that on a 61 Ford and I had some rather bizarre results with that turn signal and the cleaning...

Re: Gas leaking from both carbs

I disagree with the statement that jets control flow and not the depth of fuel. I had a Yamaha 150 outboard with 3 carbs and it was a dog until I removed the carbs and raised the float levels to spec...

Re: Missing at 3500 RPM and Above

Re: Missing at 3500 RPM and Above

You rebuilt the crab distributor - new points? Spring tension at spec for points? Condenser - check with a multimeter to see what Mfrd the condenser is when at operating temperature. If all of that...

Re: 1933 V8: Troubleshooting...suggestions welcome

While you are checking the intake manifold gasket, check the condition of the intake manifold - cracked or hole burned thru? Take a look at the valve springs.

Re: Exhaust cross-over pipe mystery insert

I installed on my 53 V8 Ford a W manifold and exhaust pipe for the left side from the local Ford garage - designed and mfd by Ford without the duck bill. An improvement. Ford engineers at work.
