Re: 41 Mercury hood latch

I thought about getting the Ford one but the bolt holes are too different to cut to fit. The Ford latch on the front is 8 1/4 inches apart, the rear is 12 1/2 inches apart. The Mercury front is 8...

Re: Distributor ?

Found what caused distributor to break. The washer I found inside was supposed to be a spacer under the Pertronix Igniter. Without both washers the screws that hold the igniter in hits on the cam...

Re: Distributor ?

I'm in NW Arkansas. I also know the motor is a 42 and has the 2 bolt distributor mount not the 3 on the 41. I also know about lining the "dogs" "ears" "tabs" up or they will break. It is the...

Re: Distributor ?

41 had the crab style distributor, I don't think a converted Chevy will work. I forgot to mention it's been converted to a 12 volt system. All new wiring though out the whole car except gauges and...

Re: Distributor ?

I've used pertronix for years, but on small blocks, and they work a lot better than points. This is my first flathead so I don't know much about them. The pertronix was installed in the original...

Re: 41 Merc steering box?

I actually noticed today most of the leak was coming from the brake line which had a crack right above the box. But I decided to put new gaskets and seals in the box anyway.

Re: 41 Merc steering box?

Thanks for the help. I ordered the gaskets and seal from thirdgen auto. I'm a long way from needing the headers because I have the car completely apart and just starting to put it back together.
