Re: Model a points block

Katy, if you want your point contacts to align perfectly, order the 12160-X Point Block from Snyder's. I've ordered new points from two different sources and neither had the correct arm length. ...

Re: Engine Quits when Instrument Light Turned On

This WAS the cause. While repairing the fuel gauge, I moved the light wire to the output side of the ammeter and all is well.

Thanks 'mcgarrett' and other replier's for your help.

Re: Original-Style Points and Cam Screw Sold by Snyder's.

I ordered a set of points from NAPA (CS30). They are made in Mexico and are the same length as Snyder's. My original (correct) points are on the left in the photo. Maybe Mexico is the single...

Re: Engine Quits when Instrument Light Turned On

Not yet. Will investigate further when the panel is removed for speedo calibrating.

Thanks,

Re: Engine Quits when Instrument Light Turned On

Marshall,

I was referring to my car with that question. I just went out and turned my key on and then the instrument (twist) light. The body fuse didn't blow and the amp meter indicated a slight...

Re: Engine Quits when Instrument Light Turned On

Marshall, if a short was occurring in the light, would it still burn bright or not at all? Also, if left in that position, wouldn't the 40A body fuse blow?

Thanks for your reply.

Engine Quits when Instrument Light Turned On

I acquired "Tinker" about a month ago. I've been sorting things since that time. It came with a 12v negative ground system. While test driving the other day, I twisted the instrument light on and...

Re: Original-Style Points and Cam Screw Sold by Snyder's.

I did mention the screw to Kevin. He said it would be checked along with adding the disclaimer to the points description.

Re: Original-Style Points and Cam Screw Sold by Snyder's.

Was it threaded to the head with no gap? The price seems reasonable.

Thanks!!

Re: Original-Style Points and Cam Screw Sold by Snyder's.

I thought about that. Maybe use a little JB Weld between the flat washer and head and use a thinner lock washer?

Currently, I'm using the old screw by itself. It seems to secure the cam okay. ...

Re: Original-Style Points and Cam Screw Sold by Snyder's.

Thanks for saving me a trip to ACE. Snyder's screw measured at .323" and I wrongly assumed that is was close enough to .310 (5/16th) although .015" difference is a lot. My thread gauge didn't have...

Re: Original-Style Points and Cam Screw Sold by Snyder's.

I believe the pan head, slotted machine screw is a 5/16-28 x 1/4". It's been my experience that machine screws are completely threaded. Going to ACE hardware later and see if I can find one. ...

Original-Style Points and Cam Screw Sold by Snyder's.

I recently ordered a new set of points (A-12199) from Snyder's. After installation, it was obvious that the arm was too long and did not center on the point block screw contact (see photo). ...

Re: What 12 volt battery and where ?

Just installed a group 26 battery from NAPA. It's a lead-acid with 2 year free replacement warranty. It also has a removable plastic top that you can snap onto the bottom of the battery so it fits...

Tight Fit in My 1929 Roadster

It's difficult getting in and out of my '29 Roadster. I'm 5'-9" and weigh 170 lbs but it's still a struggle. Maybe my seat cushions are too large? From the bottom of my steering wheel to the...

Re: Wrong E-Brake Handle from Snyder's?

I want to apologize to everyone. Being so sure my old handle was original to the car, I turned my brain off. After more research and everyone's help, I looked at the installation again and it...

Re: Wrong E-Brake Handle from Snyder's?

Everyone, if you look at the parts manual, there are 3 part numbers. An A, B and C. "A" and "B" are pictured. I believe "C", which is late '29 and 30-31 is not. I believe they put an "A" handle in...

Re: Wrong E-Brake Handle from Snyder's?

If you look on page A-108 of Snyder's parts manual, you will see the same handle which is the pushbutton style of the in-front brake handle (I think), part number A-2780-A. My old handle was working...

Re: Wrong E-Brake Handle from Snyder's?

Snyder's is closed on Saturday and Sunday according to their website. I sent them an email with pics.

Thanks!
