Re: Which Side Mirror?
I have the hinge mirrors on both sides of both of my sedans and love them (I had to mod one to fit the right side of the 31 slant). Not sure off the top of my head how the cabriolet door would differ...

Re: Shortened pitman arm
I acquired a shortened Pittman arm as part of a very weathered front suspension. The ball is quite badly pitted, and I can’t see installing it that way. Has anyone had any success filling badly...

Re: 1930 Fordor Wood
You never really know what you have until you tear it down. I got real lucky on my ‘30, what minimal dicey wood I have can be corrected with epoxy.

Re: Adjusting Brake Rods
There is also an aftermarket gizmo available from the vendors (https://www.snydersantiqueauto.com/product.htm?pid=977589&cat=41655) that attaches a spring to the motor mounts. I have Float-A-Motor...

Re: 1930 Fordor Wood
You can see the body cross members and the sill wood from underneath. Suggest a very thin probe to see if you can find rot. Another vulnerable place is the header, there might be a small opening at...

Re: Vicky front seats
There was an article in The Restorer a few months back about a guy who was reproducing them.

Re: Dropping the oil pan
I had an engine in the car and dropped the oil pan to clean out the moderate sludge, then did likewise for the valve chamber. When I disassembled the engine a year later I found the oil channel to...

Re: Edsel in a 28
Wasn’t the first one off the assembly line a roadster? And if so, could this be it?

Re: 1931 model a engine
Since you have the head off, this would be a good time to get a good straightedge and check the head and block for flatness. I use 0.002" as my standard. Check it with the straightedge going both...

Re: Rebuilt Engine Options
Anyone have a recommended source for the diaphragm clutch for a Model A? I have a Burtz flywheel that is drilled for a V-8 pressure plate.

Re: sign of the times
When I was in college (early 70’s) I had a Volvo sedan (long story) with a four speed. My girlfriend didn’t have a car, so I had to teach her to drive the four speed. She was game, did well, and her...

Re: Eaton gas cap, original or aftermarket?
Okra - I have not had good luck with repro 30/31 caps, they've either been too tight to rotate to seal (had to bend the tabs on the cap) or too loose to seal properly (had to fiddle with gaskets). As...

Re: Steering Column Anti Rattler, 31 Cabriolet
If you mean the rubber insulator that goes around the column in the tank bracket, I put the seam on the bottom after trimming like 852. I put a coat of ArmourAll on the rubber to make it slide easier...

Re: sign of the times
My son had an early ‘90s Toyota pickup with a stick and lived in Los Angeles. He told me that he never worried about it getting stolen, none of the crooks knew how to drive it. Finally drove it...

Lubriplate 105 assembly lube for me, including lifters and lobes. It’s kinda heavy white grease.
Back in high school we were taught to dip everything in STP during assembly. Including all...

Re: Fuse size
As Jim says, the fuse (or circuit breaker, in my case) protects from a dead short, which would be hundreds of amps. The increase in protection from say a 20A fuse will be minuscule compared to a 30A,...

Thanks, Randy. I've never run across this before, mainly because I don't recall ever seeing a requirement for a specific NLGI grade. "Waterproof wheel bearing grease" is about as specific as I can...
