Re: Antifreeze Concentrate VS 50/50 Mix
Remember the difference between freeze protection vs burst protection. Everyone here is using freeze protection numbers, but to protect the block from cracking what you want to pay attention to is...

Re: Antifreeze Concentrate VS 50/50 Mix
This. Why pay more for water?
The floating balls method doesn't 'rise' to much accuracy, the number of balls floating just gives a step indication. There is no in between measurement. Also, let...

Re: Lloyd Young Car Auction Today
I've been to a lot of auctions as well. A number of the auctioneers will guarantee a minimum price to the seller in order to get the consignment. The shills then bid it up until the minimum is met....

Faster than 150 kts,

Re: marine vs car battery?
"Marine" can mean a legitimate deep cycle design. This won't do as well for a starting battery.
It can also mean a hybrid that is for small sailboats, outboards, etc, that are expected to start...

One of two things will happen.
One day you will walk up to your Model A not knowing it will be your last time.

Re: starter amps
I don't follow this. Power and starter speed is not dependent on voltage, it's a function of design, the windings, and enough current at the battery to run it. Of course you could build a 6V...

Re: Posting pictures question?
I'm not sure what you're asking -
Are you asking about the thumbnail display that is a default in this board's software? usually when you click on the thumbnail, you get a larger version, but...

I agree 3/4 inch is more than adjustment. Are you sure the movement is in the shaft and not the wheel? Maybe the wheel is loose on the shaft. Hate to have you pull the whole shebang if it's...

Re: Urethane vs Base Clear
Yes, many people focus on just the spraying and cost, long term maintenance, durability, color retention and repair blending ability should factor into any paint decision.

Re: Stuck 1930 instrument light
For the restoration, I sent out the instrument panel and light hood for chrome plating. When I re-assembled it, it seemed to work fine enough dry fit. It got cranky, and then stuck. With a little...

Re: Stuck 1930 instrument light
Update.

Here's a few photos of the innards. I didn't take...

Re: Demise of the Ford Tri-Motor
OK. Not real old, but old for me...
It was about 1983, and we had taken a 1960 CE 210 in trade. Not by me.
For reasons I can't remember, I flew it once. Avionics repair, ferry flight, I...

Re: Demise of the Ford Tri-Motor
From what I've read the owner of the charter company knowingly gave the flight to the non instrument pilot since he'd rather go home to bed. That's one of the root causes of the accident.

Re: 6 cylinders
From wikipedia:
In 1906–1907, Ford's first straight-six engine was introduced in the Model K. Henry Ford did not like the car because the engine could overpower its transmission. The next Ford six...
