Re: Tips or a product that will clean radiator hoses?

Lots of products listed here. I always use Urethane or Enamel Reducer for cleaning rubber. I have found it cleans it without leaving any "residue", just clean rubber.

Re: Kr Wilson timing tool

Probably any 6v bulb that fits the socket. I would try dash gauge light bulbs. I have one of those (with no bulb) but never used it as I have a SUN machine.

Re: 1940 V8 Cam / valve timing

What distributor are you using? If it is a stock helmet, are you using a Haney rebuilt coil? If you are using an adapter with a round coil make sure it is not a really high secondary voltage one. ...

Re: 41 stock v8 flywheel question

Many people (me included) use the Merc flywheel that doesn't have that ring which limits you to a 9" clutch. This allows you to have a 10" clutch but maybe that doesn't matter to you. Those stock...

Re: Ford intake with S

Looks like 2 vacuum ports like a 40 manifold has on driver's side too. Is that a dirty spot or another vacuum hole on the passenger side front runner pointing forward?

Re: engine stumbles under load

I have never used a "pertronix" but do they even need a resistor? There are no points to burn up. I have heard the electronic distributors don't play well with generators as they like a stable...

Re: Left ignition switch on

Send the coil to Skip Haney and the distributor to one of the people here that sets them up on machines and learn from your mistake. If it now doesn't have any voltage at the coil, replace the...

Re: 1938 ford woody roof material

For my 40, all I could find was black that was wide enough. After installed on the car, but before the rain gutters were installed, I masked the entire car off and cleaned the top with wax and...

Re: Car quit working

All electrical trouble shooting begins at the battery (and its cables).

Re: Flathead Machine Shop-Utah

Probably the old timers that knew flatheads and worked there have retired (or worse).

Re: Verify 1934 Ford Accessories, Please

Post the length of the shaft that engages the crank nut. There are several different lengths for different years due to how far from the grill it needs to be for it to reach.

Re: Help with a recent 8ba rebuild

I try to assume nothing but #1 on a flathead is the front US passenger side cylinder. People who are used to modern engines often get that wrong. Also, as far as I know, a flathead is the only v8...

Re: (Best) copper head gasket and offenhauser aluminum heads

I have never had ANY overheating issues with any of the flatheads I have built. Some had copper Felpros, most were Best composite, all gaskets used as they came from the package and all ran...

Re: Helmet Distributor Issues

Also, take the vacuum brake piston out of the bore so it is not riding on the plate that changes the timing when setting it up on a machine that spins the shaft.
I would calculate what % 22 1/2 is...

Re: 6V vs 12V condenser

What Mart says is aggravated by using an extremely hot coil. Remember electricity goes to the easiest ground, sometimes that is the shaft the rotor is on in a "helmet" distributor. In my opinion, a...

Re: Annual MONSTER Swap Portland, Or

Dale, an Expo person (not from one of the clubs putting the meet on) or one hired by them asked me to take a survey. One of the questions was would I be in favor of a 2 day meet with longer shopping...
